Guest Gareth Rankin Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Great to see these old results, tough race for the convoy with plenty of Ayrshire pigeons in the first 50 Believe that the McIvors west section winner was called "Tinto Goldmine" ???
moscow master Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Good to one of Scotland's most underrated fanciers top of the list and still doing the business all these years on
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 15, 2014 Author Report Posted January 15, 2014 Yes,no problem. Good stuff Some names amongst that result Rooster Aye there isnae half Paddy Great to see these old results, tough race for the convoy with plenty of Ayrshire pigeons in the first 50 Believe that the McIvors west section winner was called "Tinto Goldmine" ??? I don't have a report on the race, but I've got a feeling it was 'Never Say Die' on this occasion Gareth- I'd need to double check. I think Tinto Goldmine's highest finish was 5th Open. Either way it's a case of great pigeons in the hands of great pigeon men Good to one of Scotland's most underrated fanciers top of the list and still doing the business all these years on Aye there's not many who have been able to sustain that kinnae level of success for all these years
alec guinness Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Great stuff Lewis, some real top flyers on the result, think Owen and Peter timed "Tinto never say die" their next section winner was "Tinto macsiccar" From Nantes,Matt caufield with a cracker and also local lad Hughie Sutherland along the road in Torrance who I believe also bred 2nd open Nantes for BIlly and David Davidson, the legend jock with a couple and the winner Peter Virtue with his first of many national winners, tons of more cracking fanciers, this is what racing is about.
Mossgiel Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Only 1 pigeon clocked north of the Forth in first 49, a strong performance from the west section lofts

Some good info there John some good prize money there as well there have been some huge sums won in the SNFC over the years when you look at a lot of the other UK national organisations it still is one of the leaders in terms of pooling

dal2 Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Magic stuff.Jock Jamieson and the Thomson Bros two legends down here( and else where). Soutar and Halliday of Brydekirk more top distance stuff. Walter Glendinning who still likes a sticky one, the Gilmour Bros are still both members of Hoddom Flying club. Ralston Graham in Langholm another household name, great stuff from before I was born lol

Cogburn Posted January 15, 2014 Author Report Posted January 15, 2014 Keep them coming and well done to you,in your opinion would you agree that there is something magical in these famous racepoints Rennes AVRANCHES etc. There certainly is, but we've been to Alencon, Clermont and Ypres a good few times now and I personally wouldn't like to see the club stray from these racepoints in the foreseeable future. Looking forwar; the birdages, membership and racepoints are different but the opportunity to test pigeons over the water at these long distances still remains . There have been performances from the modern day racepoints equally as great as from the old ones and I'm sure there will continue to be in the future. It's the SNFC that's the thing. The biggest asset Scottish pigeon racing has left in my opinion.
