What's members thoughts on this ?

No mate, it doesn't work that way round, any youngsters could be reds, mealys blues or bl. cheqs of either sex

I always like to have my mealie hens and red hens paired to blue bar or blue cheq cocks (usually mealie to cheq, so I have more chance of red cheqs!!)

 

It's the only sexed youngsters I can pretty much guarantee each year

Billt has it spot on in both cases.

Can always remember Leslie Davidson who was pretty well clued up in genetics when he wrote for the BHW many years ago and have personally never known a red cock throw anything other than red or mealy HENS
