Have to agree with you Rab about Jocks great hen, I have a full sister to her in my loft that was gifted to me by Pete Patrick who also bred Mary. I can only hope that I get something good off her in the years ahead.I also bought the latebred Yb donated by Jock at this years SNFC sale. :animatedpigeons:

Would have loved to own Old Reekie but Barry wouldnt give me him.

Top breeders are harder to come by than racers and I would opt for Whitetail bred by the late Willie Wilson of Larkhall. She won 1st west section, 5th open Nantes SNFC but was better known for being a prolific breeder. Many winning lofts in Scotland owed their success to her bloodlines.

A lot of crackers mentioned and I'd be happy with any one of them :emoticon-0136-giggle:

Here's one I'd like that hasn't been mentioned yet. The Burrell's 'Glen Hero' 25th Open SNFC Rennes, many prizes won.

If ever a bird could be described as prepotent, I suppose it could be him. I believe when Johnny Burrell died in the early 60s, there was a bird in the loft that could be traced back to 'Glen Hero' with six or seven CONSECUTIVE SNFC cross channel prizewinners in between.

Great pigeon, although it could probably be said in the hands of an even greater pigeon fancier.

I wonder how many potentially great pigeons that have been wasted by their owners over the years ? :(

PS I'm sure Jock Allan had a hen line that achieved similar running into Jim Hannah's loft with the 'Mill Queen Hen','Queen', 'Pied Queen' etc.

Cannae mind the doo at the base of it :emoticon-0179-headbang: would she maybe just be called "the good chequer hen"? or something similar?

Think you are correct and she bred Amazing Grace which in turn [ I think ] bred Mill Queen and she bred Mill Princess ???

another of Jim's top stock hens was the bird he called 'Class'. She was the result of his own 'Westsound'-1st West Section, 4th Open Rennes being paired to George and Gareth's 'Westbound'-1st West Section 4th Open Niort

Class bred both the

1st West Section, 2nd Open Sartilly and 1st West Section, 2nd Open Chenoise

Westbound was Direct from "The old grizzle hen" who was a fantastic racer but more importantly bred generations of pigeons to score well from France with SNFC.
