Guest IB Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 Del, I think you are right, I've just had a read through the 2013 book and unless I'm missing something then I can find no reference to birds must travel in wicker baskets , IMO if it's not in the rule book then it's not a rule. IB would appreciate your view on this. I was reminded recently that there were two issues and two separate votes taken back-to-back at that AGM. The first was the one I remembered clearly, about Almond Valley transporter being offered for the Gold Cup that year and being voted down. The second one arose right afterwards from John Housten himself. I had remembered it as a 'discussion' on wicker baskets from the podium that ended up with a show of hands for 'we want wicker baskets'. I do remember thinking that had just consigned the club to standstill, a timewarp, but I thought the two items were related, and applied for that year only. I asked on here earlier this year for someone to have a look at the minutes of that AGM to confirm what was said as I don't have mine. There is an obvious difference of opinion within the club on wicker baskets with what appears to be the majority view that wicker is best. My view is that we must move with the times. Wicker baskets no longer meet the birds' or animal welfare needs - particularly on feeding, drinking and hygiene. My view is the minority view on the Management Committee too.

DBA421 Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 IAN, TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. WICKER BASKETS, IN MY OPINION, SOME TIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE, WILL BE DEEMED UNSUITABLE BY THE ANIMAL WELFARE AUTHORITIES FOR PIGEON TRANSPORTATION. IAN, ASK YOURSELF WHY IS IT YOU ARE IN THE MINORITY ON THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. COULD IT BE THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE MONETARY VESTED INTEREST IN MAKING SURE WICKER BASKETS ARE USED, WHILE OTHERS APPEAR TO HAVE AND WANT TO PROTECT THE MONEY GOING TO CERTAIN FEDERATIONS.
Guest IB Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 At the inaugeral meeting of the 2013 Management Committee Dr Lynch made it clear in his address that although we were delegates representing our Federation interests, we had to look to the greater SNFC interest. In fairness, certain Feds have faithfully provided services to SNFC over the years, and deserve recognition and consideration for continued business.

1967 Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 Sounds good better than the £500 take it or leave it deal Midlothian were offered last year.Mind you as they said every fed in Scotland was queing up for the SNFC to use there transporters

Henrik Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 danny come 2 the snfc agm and have your SAYDanny canny come cos he,s no a member, canny even be bothered to go to his own Fed AGM, too much to say and a lot more to learn
VMS Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 Seems very cheap too me,the SNFC should make a offer IMO
Guest bigda Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Danny canny come cos he,s no a member, canny even be bothered to go to his own Fed AGM, too much to say and a lot more to learn bobby you need too cut the fife guys some slack, put that trailer out the game and what are you left with next year. The Lanarkshire will no be able to accommodate you next year if we take in all the midland fed, so get that sorted out before its to late bigda only here for the pilgrim, and should another fed join some other that you relied on you goose is cooked as there will no be any room for inland races as that is where you get the money to pay staff. we are all running down a single track and there ain't nothing going to stop us Edited December 3, 2013 by bigda
