In the next week or 2 I should have moved the first round over (29 ybs) then the cocks and hens will be split for the first 4 or 5 races on a kinda roundabout system then paired up

Stock pigeons will continue to breed

At the moment I'm trying to the get the racers out as much as possible

Hopefully brings some success :emoticon-0123-party:

The only thing I would say, dont worry about your birds getting out before April.Mine have been in since Sept.Mind ye, access to a bath very often.

Most hens have laid out and the others are looking ripe, no Yb's as yet but should get a good number away together when the time to wean comes round as most who have laid did so within 2/3 days of each other.

The racers i let pick their own mates but i'll no be doing it again as they're slow settling and even slower laying. They were ear marked to rear some from the Stock loft too, but i'll be lucky to catch 6 of the 12 planned

some pairing up some sitting and some raising yb,s,birds will be left to carry on what they want to do up to and trough racing. it keeps them happy and content and a lot less stress. it has worked well in the past with good results.

Got first eggs from stock today (3)lol,2 sections of widowhood cocks settling down with the hens they have chosen only one section will be allowed to rear a single youngster from the stock loft the other section will be split after sitting 2-3 days ,one further section of widowers that wont see a hen till june,Hens that are being split into new section nearly finished where they will rest all day with no fear of pairing been trying to simplify things for a few years thankfully as good as accomplished :emoticon-0167-beer: ,But as Burns said The Best Laid Plans o' Mice and Men .

Main Race Loft = most racers feeding large yb,s 12 recently rung .1 pair feeding 2 small chicks ,and 3 pairs not sitting .sounds a bit "out of tune" but me happy enough with diffrent nest conditions ,hopefully any form will come at different times. Natural,s section = some have just laid ,5 pairs yet to (only recently put together) will sit pot eggs for a good while yet tho.Stock Loft = 3 yb,s in 2 nests ,other some have laid 2nd round eggs ,and others about too . Main Race Loft will start to be let out this Sunday (all being well) :animatedpigeons:

That report is a mirror image of my schedule so far, been a nightmare really, all pairs down and hatching now for the next week so should get better, got a small team of widowhood hens that are on open loft for the first two races but the cocks havent been out yet with the weather down here like it is, foot of snow on the loft.

just getting the race team to finish rearing there y/birds, all of which are going to mates, none for me. hoping to split them sometime next week.
