buying expensive pigeons cannot buy you success.unless you are mega rich and can affoard to pay someone, time and effort buys success.

sometimes like myself derek when your trying to build a team for channel racing you have to spend a bit of money, the gifts that i have had have been few and far between and i'm thankful to the the lads that have gifted me birds, along with a few false promises so i and probably along with others have no option but to buy and i'm afraid we can only take the selling fanciers on face value although i must admit i'm not into spending thousands

We have never spent thousands on pigeons.Other than sale piegons which i think the most we have spent is £100 the others have been gifts or we have paid a nominal amount for them. Having said that we splashed out a bit on some young birds this year and one of them was 18th Section E in the snfc young bird national winning what we paid for them in prize money. Also will only buy doo's from people with doo's that have performed in our area with one exception, doo's flying into the north east :-) A lesson learned over the last couple of years.

I don't have £000's to spend but if you keep a note of what you spend on feeding, training and racing your pigeons you'll probably get a fright, you could easily reach £1000 spent each year.

I do like to bid for pigeons on charity auctions which usually brings out the best in fanciers. I agree with others and have found that my best introductions have been gifts.

Think you could spend as much as you wanted but good bloodlines doesn't mean good pigeons.

All the top lofts I have visited seem to have a way of managing their birds that turn a lot of the good bloodlines into good pigeons. The fanciers with good bloodlines who turn them into bad pigeons far outnumber them though I think :emoticon-0138-thinking:
