My thinking was that hens pair up on a solid floor Mark Gilbert puts balls on the floor to stop them pairing other grills etc but I'm sure there are guys on here more qualified to give an opinion

why keep the hens short of food if you dont need to ??

if there over fed they will pair short of food they wont

i have food in front of my doos 24/7 and they dont pair apart from sometimes you will get the odd hen looking at another one . i must also say my hens are not in the same section 2 nights in arow

in nature when food is in abundance birds try to reproduce , not much breeding in winter due to the supply in food , it doesn't mean they starve , moving perches not owning a piece of loft or even poles or shutting hens up also works , each to there own ;) most roads lead to Rome some quicker than others , not everyone thinks the same or does the same ;)
