peter dempsey Posted August 26, 2012 Report Posted August 26, 2012 I would be all for trying ? we have nothing to lose < doing nothing is not an option
chrissyboy1 Posted August 26, 2012 Report Posted August 26, 2012 Good idea Derek , possible make it a rule that they are sprayed at basketing at the club , then everyone is on the same playing field.Hope to hear the outcome , sometimes the answer is the simple things.

Novice Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Thats what I think m8 Seems like a worth a try idea,I also spoke to a fancier on Friday who claims to have better returns since he started putting spots of sheep dip on his youngsters.Has anyone any experience with this?
just ask me Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 good thinking well worth a try that for definitive :emoticon-0137-clapping:
Guest bigda Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 it would be good for trials long before the races started if you applyed it to the birds you did not want then over the weeks if you where getting bird back from training, them included you would then think they are leaving us alone
gulkie Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 i'am willing to try anything but u would have to use it in training alsonot just make them taste bad on 1 day of the week
Henrik Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Think we should all give this a try next year when we start training and then continue throughout the season, but also keep our birds in during the close season to give them nothing to eat in the hard winter months.

Delboy Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 could our federation make a proposal on this , and as a group purchase this deterrent at a discount price ?? I think the SHU could subsidise it, buy it in bulk and give the clubs it cheap. After all, WE ARE THE SHU.
Henrik Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I think the SHU could subsidise it, buy it in bulk and give the clubs it cheap. After all, WE ARE THE SHU.At the end of the day we shouldnt be looking for subsidies, if the SHU buy it you will still have to pay postage to get it to you. Any how, its only £8 for a bottle that will prob work out at about 1/2p per bird to spray it, n if a bird aint worth that then it shouldnt be in your loft in the first place
andy Burgess Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I think the SHU could subsidise it, buy it in bulk and give the clubs it cheap. After all, WE ARE THE SHU.i think that could work long-term ,to help with a BULK discount etc . Any how, its only £8 for a bottle that will prob work out at about 1/2p per bird to spray it, n if a bird aint worth that then it shouldnt be in your loft in the first placewas thinking more along the lines of perhaps ,if we bought 50 bottles ,may gain some discount ,and if it worked then approach the SHU ,i know £8 isnt a lot these days but if i can keep a pound in my pocket rather pay full whack ,i would be happier (remember i am a frugal Welshman)

blaz Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 it has to do something to feather quality of birds.it tastes crap so if birds preen themselves and no drinker.if it stops birds preening in the basket like a lot of them do .to relax and get their feathers in top condition for the race. keep birds in through winter like bobby has suggested NO CHANCE. sorry not for me.i have seen birds with half the brain power of most bops get food that tastes crap with sand ect in it.so they git o wash it then eat it.other than their being a legal kull on bops our birds will constantly be under attack from them.also birds going to a national 5 or 6 days without cleaning their feathers http://www.ukgunroom.com/

THE FIFER Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 3218BioLink Stop Peck 250ml Trigger Spray Price (including VAT) :£7.75 Each Biolink Stop Peck is available as a 250ml trigger spray, making it perfect for application onhens which have been attacked and injured by others. Stop Peck is so unpalatable that within a few days, aggressive birds should stop their feather pecking behaviour, and they quickly learn that harassed victims are not to be touched. By making the vulnerable birds taste unpleasant,Stop Peck prevents the onset of cannibalism but is also food safe and non tainting. In many cases, Stop Peck is a great alternative to bitting birds, particularly for small scale operations in which feather pecking is a minor problem. Guest geordiejen Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 where does the most attacks take place?on race days or local training days?i see sparrowhawks almost daily but a mate about 3 miles away has perrigrane picking his off like us picking a chip off our dinner plate.he says its unbelievable how easily these falcons pic them off.just seen on the news today they are considering a beaver cull as they are now destroying young trees and making a total mess of large streams and tops of rivers.funny that they were introduced back to scotland and now look whats happened.why cant we protect whats ours and if we were then we wouldnt be able to make them extinct in scotland.
