Guest IB Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 This is a scary story for any new guys thinking of starting up, What your oppinion is the cause of all these pigeons going missing, i,d be interested in your theory ? No offence intended, but my opinion is that there are just too many theories on what is going wrong, and not enough known facts. IMO nothing has been done to establish exactly what is happening out there because most fanciers now seem to accept that large losses are a normal part of racing. This is the first public acknowledgement that it is not normal, and apparently unacceptable too. I noted the SHU President said he didn't believe BoP could be responsible for all of these losses. We'd a discussion on here a good while back about maybes following convoys home and filming the journey, using a light aircraft. I know you can use satellite trackers on pigeons but while it may show the convoy veering off course or splitting up, I think we also need an explanation why that happened, and for that I think we need to actually see it happening.
maverick Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 I was wondering if any of the guys in the scottish borders noticed any R.A.F JETS in the area at the weekend as a few years ago i seen at first hand what affect these can have on a batch of birds i was training birds from stow had around 400 birds just let birds go and 2 jets went by these were old birds and well trained and raced everyone who trained that day had very patchy returns birds normaly took around 1 hour were taking 4-5 hours and a lot missing
tyson Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 according to reports a few english feds suffered heavy losses as well at weekend seemed to be all over I know the k index did rise slightly on saturday between 11.00am and 15.00pm whether that had an affect or not is debatable or could be some other factor that we dont know about and may never know but something is definatly causeing a big problem with the homimg instinct of our pigeons
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 This is a scary story for any new guys thinking of starting up, What your oppinion is the cause of all these pigeons going missing, i,d be interested in your theory ?It's a combination of different problems, from BOP, Weather, clashing, K Index, Government/ MOD interference and also that of the health of the pigeons. Combine any of the two above and there will most likely be heavy losses. Jmo
Guest paulrstokes Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 I agree with Gareth a combination of things I do think that the magnetic fields are to cock. Twenty years ago when we would get youngsters in kits of 5 and 6 together from 120 miles 1 man in 20 carried a mobile phone. Nowdays everyone and their partners and kids carry one. It is the same all over the country, here is a snapshot of our club Bred

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 you missed out CONTROLLERS!!! suppose they come under clashing and weather. Gareth from a team 0f 90 a about 10 days ago which were well trained and had races under there belt some 5 races i have 37 left left of which 16 have been hit with percy, in a week of percy strikes 30 missing from tuesdays strike and 29 missing from 3 strikes the week before , the yb were just flying of after strike and less and less were returning each time , i have one red hen was hit on friday and she has been hit on tuesday again booth wings and tail out now which returned this evening , i dont blame anyone for paking in the games over i have shut shop now as there will be none left by the time these murdering bassas have finnished , this happen 3 or 4 times last year in aug with the yb and i thought it was fly aways Terrible Rab, it almost sounds like a fly away, but to have this happen to such an experience team is very strange, to loose 60 from the loft in a couple of days would be every fanciers nightmare. Bloody BOP
geordie1234 Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 was going to buy an ets but to be honest im not gonna bother as stb said the game is dead just far too much for the doos to contend with.
