Wiley Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 There are thousands of them mate watched a wildlife progamme on bb2 and the narrator said there were 25 pair of Peregrines in London fookin nightmare Read a blog from a twitcher who reckoned he took two sacks from one nest in London and contained 20 pigeons suggested they was feral but they all couldn't have been. There was other birds involved including two parakeets suggesting the site must have been west London. But the main source was pigeon, wood pigeon and collared doves there wasn't many
Guest bigda Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 there must be a ring issue each year, that should tell us how manny get rung each year, and where is these records kept or who supplies them with the rings maybe they can say.

Bluedoo Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 Saturday morning about 09:30 percy wondering why my birds wern't out yet. Circled for at least 10 mins.
Guest bigda Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 there is a report from the RSPB asking the farmers why since 1979 there is a steady decline in starlings. me i have no idea, must be no one is throwing out any bread

greenlands Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 Been among mine and my mates this morning, luckily none missing but I have a pencil cock with secondary flights missing expletive remove.
THE FIFER Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 got one home from a toss yesterday with a hole in its chest, no other marks,
john cumming Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 i think we are at the point where the diplomatic approach seems to be falling on deaf ears, the authorities in my opinion are not willing to change legislation in any way to address the situation with racing pigeons and songbirds, the rspb have the majority of the general public brain washed into thinking the bop is the endangered species in the uk, that days are long gone, and with the finacial backing they have i think change is a million miles away?? i live in hope there is change as our sport / hobby is taking a severe beating at the moment and so to the song birds, just yesterday i watched a sparrow hawk & seagulls at seperate intervals attacking starlings from my back garden and this is an everyday occurance, must be bad when they are taking starlings with the toxins in their feathers!! john
Mealy Cock Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 The RSPB & other organisations out there actually pay peeps to do bird counts, these must get fed into a database. Is there no way we can legally get hold of the current figures of BOP ? Yes you can under the "Freedom of Information Act"
Bluedoo Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 This was taken a few weeks ago at my loft. Percy circling waiting for my birds to get out. Not a fancy long lens, just a point and click. Only positive thing about having peregrines, if there is such a thing is they keep the sparrahawks away, and they're far worse around the loft.
