    Waste Of Time

Got to agree with gav on this,of course nobody wants too fork out on couriers but at the end of the day they are our birds so our responsibility!why should others especially non fanciers be left stuck with our birds? Ive had the phone slammed down on me,ive been asked too feed/water bird and chuck it up when ready but when the bird refuses to leave the fancier conveniently cant be contacted,I even heard one fancier say to his friend/partner 'not him again tell him to n--- -t,needless too say that conversation got a bit colourfull, why didnt he just say that the first time i phoned him?and we wonder why we get a bad name, ive driven to southampton, ipswich and barnet, london to collect from non fanciers, not all fanciers are bad in fact ive met some very considerate ones but a few ruin it for the rest of us -rant over

  9. glad u got her back its always nice when they make it home against all the odds
  10. when reporting strays to owners ive had the phone slammed down on me and one fancier wouldnt pick the phone up again when i called him back even though he had gone to the trouble of putting a tel no ring on it? others have said they cant afford to pay the courier fee but theres been times when i couldnt afford it but its my bird and its just not fair to leave another fancier to deal with it- i think if your not prepared to send for them then you shouldnt be racing them! our birds are our responsibility end of story ps ive got to say that good fanciers outnumber bad ones which is why i continue to report strays
  11. good offer gurnster well done, as ive said b4 on pb im more than happy to collect birds within a 15 mile radius of crawley (which is 20 miles north of brighton) especially those with non fanciers, anyone needing help can get me on 07511 46620 or pm me on pb,some ive collected have been ok after a few days of rest/feeding and usually make it home under their own steam but others have been at deaths door and would never have made it home alive by courier so it always helps if a fancier can take a look first, ive had favours done for me by fanciers so think it only fair to try return the favour by doing our bit for others
  12. whatever way you look at it i think racing is fxckxed theres just too many bops out there now
  13. is it staying with u wiley or going home
  14. hi,i was advised to buy some quest horse wormer to treat quill mites but when i went to the corn shop they only had equest oral gel(made by pfizer)i was told that quest/equest is the same product but thought i had better check before i use it on my birds, has anyone on pb used equest to treat their birds and if so can you help me out regarding the dosage? it states on package that each 12.2g syringe contains 230.8mg of moxidectin,it also contains benzyl alcohol and disodium edetate as preservatives! can anyone enlighten me?any help appreciated atb kev
  15. thanks for your help everyone its appreciated, kev
  16. thanks chaps i will give the fly spray a go first as have some in cupboard containing pyrethrin then the moxedectin if its needed? did you mean gees fluid walter or jays fluid-i thought id better check in case its needed? atb kev

  18. was on the train yesterday at about 11.30ish at redhill, surrey when i saw a batch of trainers heading south go over just as the train was pulling out of the station and just as i was getting my last glance before the train got further away something went straight into them and they all scattered in different directions i know we all say that its getting worse year on year which it is but its now got to the stage that we aint gonna have many birds left to race and those that are left will be scared shxtless to leave the panniers,i know what you mean andy when u say about keeping a few old favourites and if we are lucky we might even be able to let them out to excercise for 20 mins every now and then
  19. welcome top pb shanko its a great site with members offering help and advice should u need it kev

    Bops

unfortunately bbb this is a sign of things to come and although you were lucky today not to have lost any birds many fanciers including myself have had to put up with bop attacks with some fanciers deciding to call it a day as theyve had enough of their birds being hit while excercising or training and coming home from races injured i count myself lucky as i know fanciers who get hit almost on a daily basis and given time we will all be in the same situation as the bop population increases year on year causing us fanciers more grief

    Hawked

sorry to hear u lost one of your pigeons to a bop geordiejen, they are a menace and i dont think any fanciers are safe in any areas of the uk from attacks? their numbers are now at saturation point with their offspring carving out new territories for themselves is there any fanciers on pb that havnt had bop problems?(yet) i hope your hen pulls through as we all know how stressfull it is for them, good luck kev
  22. geo havnt you got any reclamation yards near you,its worth taking a look kev
  23. i know how you feel stew, ive posted on this before but nothing ever changes, ive had the phone put down on me after telling me (not asking me)to move it on,nobody likes having to shell out to couriers but as most of us know some birds wont wont clear on their own and return even after being chucked up miles away,at the end of the day they are their birds not ours so why should we be left with the problem? the least fanciers can do is return phone calls especially when the finder has gone to the trouble of caring for hawked/injured birds, that said ive met some great fanciers who have collected their birds but unfortunately they are in the minority,i collected one of my yb,s from southampton and the woman(a non fancier)was told not to bother reporting it as we never want them back if they get lost, kev
  24. you want 18mm marine ply geo finished with a nice coat of varnish to stop the rain penetrating/rotting it,you can get cheaper such as a thinner ply or osb board, it all really depends on how exposed you are to the elements? osb board is basically chunks of wood compressed and glued together but mainly used for interior work such as flat roof decking etc before the felt goes on! it all depends on your budget really? whatever you use i would deffo varnish or paint it to keep it waterproof, good luck, kev
  25. hi,can anyone give me an up to date tel no for kevin winters, need it asap if poss thanks, kev
