Few years ago flying east lost 40 plus youngsters in one race Strong west wind,this year big loss of yearlings west route strong east wind,Weather major player in returns,But still of opinion when a loft is in top form pigeons are very hard to lose,jimmy dal 6 in top 10 of club result from cheltenham national on wednesday not a betting man but would guess that would be very close to his total number entered jmo .

How many stinkers in that line up John?

Your last race 6/10 is that the Cheltenham inland nat?

Hee haw wrang wae that flyin in my book cos I am quite sure if I looked it would be just as bad/good from the east for the last five years?

Of course MY opinion on racing into the west is not valid cos we are south of the Moffat hills but think that them returns are quite acceptable in most lofts, well done,.

 

Wer you trying to compete from the majority of races or setting birds up for the Nat?

Do you fly yearlings right to the coast or stop them at a certain distance?

When all is going well i send some of my Yearlings to the Coast race, or in this years case i have 2 yearlings away at Salisbury, the rest i stopped after Wollaston yearling derby. Won a ticket with a yearling from Ypres last year though its rare i send them across the Channel.

And Yes i do set my doos up for certain races, i have little interest in averages, preferring to target races i can have a wee punt in.

The 8th race was Wollaston Steven, these are only Federation races.

John if the solway fed did not double up with the snfc we would not get a race much beyond 200 mls cant remember when the fed last managed a race from the coast under its on steam thats with racing east and west just no enough doos left each year bad times and it will not get any better .

Personally i don't send my Best pigeons to Every race, preferring to get them fit with 4/5 races out to 200mls or thereabouts and then a wee tighten up fae 70-120mls near the targeted race time. Motivation is what i like, if you give your doo enough reason to get back, it;ll get back sharpish. (BARRING ACCIDENTS THAT IS!!)

Best post I have read for a while. Lanarkshire voted to leave the SNFC duplication idea which has added more races to the programme.

Carentan and Salisbury will cost the fed a fortune did say it at the agm but at least the "mighty" Lanarkshire went on there own.( in almond valley's transporter)

Lanarkshire Fed should go on their own for the members of Lanarkshire Fed,if you want to go with any of the National clubs its your choice.But members of the fed that dont have any interest in Nationals should not have to confirm to others wishes.

Firstly if only a few hundred go it will cost an arm and a leg to send them the irdage aint gonna cover it it will be a massive loss ,

they dont have to have an interest national club they will still be just racing within there federation and only piggy backing with the nat what difference does it make if they go with snfc cumbrian combine up north combine , none at all as the fed members are only getting a lift to save money at these longer races its always been quite normal for most to transport share with who is irelevant , if they go with up north combine they dont have to have an interest in it :animatedpigeons:

Firstly they charge them the national birdage rate and not the rate what they have been paying all season with the fed,why should they pay more.Its not their preference to subsidise a club they dont want to be in.

Not in the past it didnt.Anyway the fed has £100000 in the bank they dont have to make a profit on every race.

Very true the dinny need tae make a profit but it just doesnt make sense tae burn diesel when ye dinny have too?

Still think a subsidy for non nat members from their fed is the way to go. Then nobody loses out on any monies or any races?

At the end of the day the majority voted to go alone,so the members of the feds wishes have to be respected.

I consider myself an average fancier with an average team of doos, that could win in most company on their day.

Tam, I went with the Midland fed down the west with my ybs for 4 years, totally raped every year.The bigger convoy of Lanarkshire will get away with it better than Midland BUT, it will be much worse than the returns youve had with your obs.

Also , Im not pushing anything , im only giving my experience on both routes.I hope Lanarkshire fed go down the west with the ybs just to see how it goes.I want to send my doos with Lanarkshire but cant go down the west with them until the BOP problems are sorted.
