OLDYELLOW Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Have been discussing with a friend , more and more rooms / areas seem to be closed off is it about time we changed venue to NEC AT Birmingham or somewhere similar ??? What would be a better alternative venue ???
deb Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Yes it is an absolute dump, like the rest of Blackpool
andy Burgess Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 i wondered if this year it appears smaller/more compact because of up-dates and improvements to the venue .in all honesty i dont think i would travel down to Brum ,
ALF Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 I THINK IF THE SHOW LEFT BLACKPOOL IT WOULD NEVER GET THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THROUGH THE DOORS AS THEY GET JUST NOW I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE FROM UP HERE WOULDNAE EVEN THINK OF GOING TO BIRMINGHAM BUT ENJOY THE WEEKEND AT BLACKPOOL :emoticon-0123-party: :emoticon-0123-party:

They've got stalls in places that they've never had stalls in before due to lack / loss of space
deb Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Our local paper reported on the show, saying record numbers again. But last year was the first year we were able to walk through the trade stands, without there being a crush and that was around lunch time

frank-123 Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 You don't just go to Blackpool for the pigeons good company, good laugh and a few too many beers. When you get home you are rearing to go with your pigeons and hoping you can get them up for the tough season ahead.
Guest geordiejen Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 i agree the winter gardens is an absolute shithouse but where else is better that suits everyone?99% of blackpool b&bs have no vacancies so im pretty sure their would be lots of business lost in blackpool if it werent for us clown all drinking the beer and eating kebabs all weekend.
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Thought I read somewhere Blackpool was having millions of pounds spent on it over the next few years,I could definately see changes there last year even to the Winter Gardens and if I,m not mistaken the RPRA have booked it up for the next 4 or 5 years.

andy Burgess Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Be an easier ride on train surely ?? They've got stalls in places that they've never had stalls in before due to lack / loss of spaceit would be journey wise easier , but the return with arm-fulls of products ?? = no . and the cost ,off the top of my head £100 return per person = thats a no no

OLDYELLOW Posted January 15, 2012 Author Report Posted January 15, 2012 I did say or somewhere similar not just the NEC
Guest Tooshy Boy Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 IF ITS NOT IN BLACKPOOL IN WOULD NOT BE THE SAME THEY HAVE ALL THE HOTELS . NOT JUST THAT THE COMPANY ASWELL .AS FOR BRUM FORGET IT .///
andy Burgess Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 I did say or somewhere similar not just the NEC OK , but would have to be very similar to Blackpool by its layout , large enough venue , plenty of accomodation close by , and lots of food oulets , entertainment etc etc
quackie Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 went last year not 1 place open for a breakfast around the winter gardens they dont need money that bad and the place is a sh** hole taxi fares are rip off and ya will find most taxi drivers when asked whre a place is say they dont know very ignorant i thought but ill be there again this year got relations so free digs lucky me
dal2 Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 Me and the wife gan tae brum nec for crufts every year!!!!!Her choice??? but i will no be gan for the doos!!! Blackpool is more than half the attraction???
just ask me Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 dont think too many places would have the amount of hotels in close proximity to the venue as black pool
JADE Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 I think the fact it is in Blackpool adds to the weekend. Ok the place is run down but after ten pints on a Friday night who cares. As others have said there are loads of hotels near the Winter Gardens which you wouldnt get elsewhere. As for taxi fares it would be the same anywhere. I tend to walk if the weathers ok.
dwh Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 b/pool might be a dump now but it still has something about it all the b&b's and hotels make it ideal and is quite central for most of the uk and know for a fact a lot less people would attendchange is'nt always for the best :( :( jmo

WulDon Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 a lot of auctions happening in pubs/clubs around blackpool now which i think is the reason the winter gardens doesnt seem so busy...
