OLDYELLOW Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 And look at February 2011 seizure notice http://www.vmd.defra.gov.uk/vet/enforcement_notices.aspxSeen it a while ago , POMS should be dispensed by vets and quite rightly so
Guest Tooshy Boy Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 SO ITS O.K. FOR VETS TO GET IT .THEN THEY RIP YOU OFF.///
Guest IB Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 The majority of the seizures were for medicines imported into the UK and not authorised for use here. Vets have to obtain the same import license and one was on here about a year ago saying VMD had refused him one because there was an alternative medicine already authorised for use here - and basically that means that it had been tested in the field and the trials proved it did 'what it says on the tin'. In other words, made sure its safe AND we don't get ripped off.
frank-123 Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 what harm is a few pigeon men trying to keep there birds healthy and trying to save a few quid by cutting out a very expensive middle man (vets) who know's nothing about pigeon's and doesn't want to know. Maybe if the government spent the defra budget on trying to catch people who murder ,rape , committ burglary, vandalism and generally ruin this country!! IB you have told me before about these top vets that will help you when i used the one you were recommending on here a few years agoi was left with a bill of £122 and the vet's answer was not sure what is wrong with your pigeon avian vet based in Falkirk and a practice in Cumbernauld charge you £22 pounds just to see them and that was 3 years ago easy target pigeon men
OLDYELLOW Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 good god costs me nowt to see my vet £30 for a full test then any treatment on top

Roland Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I'm just surprised that many have, and still do, go over and buy in Belgium / France / Spain etc. and then sell over here, and have, and do get away with it. especially for so long!. Like when the Belgium etc. bird were soaked in Cortisone, drugged up to the eyeballs and looked fit enough to win in shows pens etc. Yep like graves, Shiny white marble looking great on the outside, but on the inside just useless old bones. It got so bad that the government had to step in and bang a few in court to kerb it! Ok so some then imported the rings and bred so – call ‘Wonders’ over here and sold them on…. Yes some very well known household names to boot at that, and still do! Then Incest bred galore – from culls -… these wonders fill our streets and are very poor birds too boot . Yep the reality is that buying with little knowledge, and over using IS placing a great burden on our pigeons. Too many myths and ‘Boons’ are doing the very worse to our birds… birds many in ignorance think they are doing the best for them.Think DAFRA should have gotten a hold on it long before now personally
peterpau Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Oh dear there seems to be one very recognizable name on the list. Still he has friends in very high places.
