Wish you guys had been at our race meeting agm

Lanarkshire decided (never mind the route) to go against the snfc duplication races financial madness IMO

Obviously with Lanarkshire going back to the west route, how would the west of Scotland guys feel about the following race program for the WOSA:-?

Old Birds

26th May - Stafford 213 miles,Joint convoying only

2nd June - Wolaston 238 miles Yearling open/duplication race

9th June - Cheltenham 270 miles, Joint convoying only

16th June - TBA possibly Portsmouth 355 miles??, open/duplication race

7th July - TBA possibly Carantan 458 miles, open/ duplications race

Young birds.

25th August - Leyland 146 miles, Joint convoying only.

1st September - Stafford 213 miles Open/duplication race

.

Gareth Portsmouth is in the middle of the country if you want to fly west surely poole or portland is more in line of flight of the rest of the west route race points

Frank as the picture shows below its more about the line of flight. Also Portsmouth is more forgiving than Portland especially in an East wind. Anyway Portsmouth should apease the anti west brigade. ;)

Well i don't have an appetite for a WOSA, the last time it was organised whoever the officials were decided to fall out before the 1997 Yb race. We topped the Fed and had the fastest bird into Scotland on the day but never got so much as a ticket acknowledging our birds performance. I HAVE NO DOUBT THEY WILL FALL OUT AGAIN!!!

You may have had a bad experience to give you this view point but a lot of things have changed in that time, this includes, change of officials, Haulage/fuel costs and Falling entries with wagons going down the road only 25% full.

Maybe not this year or the year after, but it will come to fruition in the not too distant future.JMO

I agree with your assessment Gareth and i wouldn't try to Prevent it but neither would i participate in its organisation.

Can't believe lanarkshire had that in place with the snfc and we tossed it out the window at the race agm a few weeks back

Now we are looking to re start an amalgamation race to bail Lanarkshire out

Never hear so much bull

1st fed Poole Lanarkshire fed would be good but I will be trying for 1st west section snfc Eastbourne instead

Eastbourne, bloody Eastbourne, name something positive that this race has brought to the SNFC, can you not see that the gold cup race is getting killed because of the inclusion of this race into the National program.

[/quote Disagree here Eastbourne is a super Inland National for the members of the SNFC and has no negative effect on the birdage of the Gold Cup. Get rid of ypres and the other inland nat then the Gold cup race might benefit.

when was the strathclyde amal started.

I believe it started in 1996 Kenny but they fell lout during the 1997 season, as if by magic there was no more mention of it, or a TRUE explanation to the members as to why they fell out.

Jim there a lot of members who want a SNFC diploma, the problem is they want to take the easy option of there pigeon getting one, this is done by sending to a race at 387 miles instead of 550 miles. This eastbourne race comes 1-3 days before marketing for the Gold cup and when Eastbourne is sticky one which it has been in the last 4 then members take the easy option by sending to Ypres 7 days later because they have no belief in there pigeons after they didn't do well in Eastbourne. Jmo

TIME TO GIVE THE GOLD CUP THE PROTECTION AND RESPECT THAT IT DESERVES.

As far as i remember , it was to do with which fed transported the birds & cost, I think the last race was from salisbury which i had the privalige to be convoyer of around 6500 birds.

I was led to believe that Lanarkshire gave up the race controlling Kenny, which was against our constitution but Andrew Shearer who was our president at the time was prepared to give it up to get the thing up and running. I don't have any real insight to how things started or ended but as far as i know Lanarkshire were keen to keep it going.

I am not saying this is correct, its only what i've been told in snippets over the years.

Its to long a story for this , the first time a see you . i tell you why it stopped. That year it was A Durning that was the race controller i worked with. What a man. He phoned me on the sunday evening after a two day holdover and asked me how the birds where looking , i replieid their doing fine andy , been out for a fly and back in the baskets fed and watered ready for tommorow , he said thats fine son and speak to you in the morning. half an hour later he phoned me back, relising what i had said , you can imagine what he said to me .
