Well Scotland will have the odd flair and do well with the English caste off regards their' speed.... but by no means will the Scots be together enough, let alone long enough to hold the French. 24 - 14 France would be being Kind to Scotaland.

We'll see. Hope I am wrong and we see a Scotland win. Might be one of them unexplain fun-nomie ma - lovely spelling thats for the Scots - where the Scots fluke it.

But at least we English will be cheered and have a good laugh at that other misnomer the 'flower of Scotland' is sung Now that does always warm the cockles of an English man's heart ... Even if the French / Italians wonder what the Fuke you're on about lol..... Gosh is it really nearly 800 years since you had something to crow about regards getting something over the English!!! :emoticon-0138-thinking::emoticon-0137-clapping::emoticon-0137-clapping:

I enjoyed watching the England V France game. As usual the pre match commentators spoiled it by their constant talk about England. There was a Frenchman in the Commentary Box and the poor man could not get a word in except when he was being asked an English biased question. I got fed up with Chris Aston's name being continually mentioned. To me Chris Aston is a fine player but he is not the World Beater the media would have us believe. Thank goodness for Brian Moore and Eddie Butler because they at least tried to give a balanced view of the game. I hope England can keep up the progress they have made but I also hope that these one eyed so called experts calm down a bit so that we can see two sides when England play.

Well Owen, regards the '.... As usual the pre match commentators spoiled it by their constant talk about England....'

You must have turn the sound off during the Wales V Italy game with embarrasment lol.

Commentors Johnathon Davies so terribly bias and guffered constant tripe and only saw the Welsh moves.... and so exaggereted too! Gosh the times he said, and ouzed on about World Class moves and sheer Class and world class this and that was a joke.

Well all I can say he was he watching a different game than the rest of Europe! Was most deployable in the highest in terms being Bias. But then again we have that EVERY time he spouts.

But funnily enough his last quote was typical, and right when his finished with 'Wales should have done better, and won by more... But it was the MISSED 'Kicks' that cost Italy the game... failed on at least 6 to convert... so in that respect he was right.

But was enjoyable and tension watching game.

Thought England overall were the better side and deserved their win personally. Both were class that nullified each other wll at times.

Not far off the elete sides now I feel ... hope lol.

I think Ireland will win it.... 8 to 10 points I'd say. Ireland will be just overall too strong and compact for them.

Yes Scotland will most likely score a try... but whilst we thought Ireland weren't going to be the force of recent times, I feel the Scots disapoint.... especially after the promise shown, and the belief that they had finally arrived. Sadly they have let them slfs down. Think they will win the wooden spoon personally.

Yes they show show sgns of brilliance, and flair, but just in the oft patches and can't sustain any momentum .... In my opinion. J.M.O.

No arguement about Johnathan Davies's comments. Unless you have played the game most of what he says would be lost. I would rather a less technical approach so that people could enjoy the games more. He needs to lighten up and make the games more fun to watch.

Regarding England, the French snuffed out their half backs pretty well and the only way England managed the win was because they piled their forwards into the breakdown area which lead to a very much less expansive game. The French made far too many mistakes and should have moved the ball away from the break down area quicker stretching the English forwards and moving them about. At the end of the day they won ugly, this time, and should be able to improve before the World Cup. At their present level of perfromance they will not be able to beat the Southern Hemisphere sides because they are far too predictable.

Very True Owen. Mind I thought, though, that in terms of Nullifying each other it was a superb tactical game. Horses for Courses etc. and a win is after all what both teams needed / wanted, and possibly deserved, due to their disapline and team work. Infact I thought in the latter that France was more solid in that regards.... perhap too much so and that may have cost them dear.

Of course an open game would have been very entertaining and high scoring no doubt whoever won. But we must remember, I believe, that both are preparing and moving forward with the World Cup in mind as the ultimate prize. So of course boring if clever, when needed, tactics will always raise it's ugly head. Feel it has to to be able to handle and beat all kinds of opposition.

Johnson, took over and was / is given time, to weld a side that can compete with the best, regardless how they may or may not fare.

Roland, I have been used to Pontypool when Ray Prosser was Coach and they were a match for anyone. The philosophy at that time was to take the game to the opposition through the forwards and that way the opposition back row had to stay close to the pack or risk a forward or scrum half scoring. At any given moment the Inside Half could release the backs knowing that they would only have the opposition backs to cope with. Often, when the ball got to the outside half, he would kick so that the forwards had a target to run on to. Ray always insisted that the Ball Carriers would always run straight so that there was always room out wide. He also wanted the Ball Carrier to be supported by a player or two running close enough to accept a slip pass. It was very difficult to stop because it was almost like a very fast rolling maul.

The result of all this has made most Pontypool Supporters very nervous when they see the ball flying about with the backs. We all appreciate good forward play and understand it.

The current Welsh Team are far too loose to suit me and the forwards should not release the ball until they are going forward. The idea of having the ball flying about with the backs is bound to result in mistakes and turn overs.

Chris Aston is able to score often because he understands the importance of supporting the Ball Carrier and the need to give the Ball Carrier an option if he runs into trouble, add the fact the Chris tries to run straight plus of course his speed and strength and you have a superb player on your hands. Simple really, but there are not many doing it. If the Welsh Team are serious about winning games against the best, they will have to learn to get the basics right and they are a long way from that right now.

The English are part of the way there but will need to keep the ball off the floor so that they can gain control of it better and tie the opposition back row down to protect their half backs. Unless they do this the half backs will have a hiding and will not be able to play. That was what happened against the French.

To score a try, one has to progress forward. Very true and obvious. Outside of the silly kicking up field only to give the ball away and wait as it comes back... Unless one has a dominant line out... Like Scotland did on Sunday. Like wise the 'Up and Under' that was, and still can be a very good ploy.

Tactics eh! Yes spoils a lot of sports etc. And the excuse is not deployable if one wins. Bad for the game often I feel though ... like watching paint dry.

Yet Owen you must have noticed England have only scored on drop goal... 1 out of one that has been done, Johnny Wilko of course. However there are 3 - 5 players well apt and well capable in the English side that can do this. So it is nice to see them concentrating on 'Tries, containing and building on a defence.

Australia's biggest gripe when England beat them in the W/C final was 'How can you win a game of Rugby on drop kicks....' But the records show 'England won etc. Another great 'Runner of the Ball' we have is Care... being kept under wraps Amite and his style hampered. But he will soon be running in tries.

The likes of Ashton, like all good sportsmen, are born, and mostly with a mite of savvy. Flood / Young work well together, Ashton and Care etc.

They are 'Match Winners' and capable of turning the game at any point. They are inspirational and getting well disciplined too. Not giving away too many silly penalties… yes still some which so that needs to be tightened up on.

So a bright future could well be on the way for us. Certainly we are now the best we have been since we started to rebuild after the 'World cup' win. Too many players over the top, or would have been; yet irreplaceable straight off I feel. But time was needed to give this crop their' head etc. Patience was / is the virtue.

I think Ireland, for instance, will have to rebuild for 3 years time. We don't really have the class in depth to be able to instantly replace.... But is every countries dream, or nightmare.

I thought Wales ‘Know How’ was the deciding factor against Italy. Two Tries that were lucky as Both the Ref got wrong and could have halted proceedings.

One for ‘Blocking’ and a knock on that went Backwards towards their’ own half.

Perhaps they like Scotland lack a few ‘Big Boys’ and rely on speed.
