frank-123 Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 If you want a more level playing field in the gold cup race. Then Bourges is the Answer its been proven time and time again that from these Longer Race points the west section acheive there best open positions. So go for Bourges and stick to it. sure is level playing field last year only two birds in the west timed inwe want more birds to go to the premier race the gold cup too many guys would be scared of that distance reims/liege is fine for me distance wise

JohnQuinn Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 There are 3 ways to pool your pigeons in the national, Fed, Section and Open, i watched my Da for years filling in pool sheets and NEVER pooling birds in the Open. When i was old enough to ask why and understand it, he said WE HAVE NO CHANCE pooling against the South and East fanciers. He was 100% right. Now when i send birds i don't just Expect a fair shake at winning 1st Open, i Fuchin DEMAND IT or whats the point in entering??????The absolute fact is we were racing from the WRONG country for nearly a 100 years before circumstances changed things, well i'm no prepared to wait for Circumstance to change it permanently, i will propose Liege or some other race that gives Every fancier and Every Pigeon a chance to win it, until i'm old and grey. I don't accept second best Ever and i'm get nothing but second best when we race from France. In another 100 years people will look back in History and see how bloody STUPID pigeon men were, even when the answer was SCREAMING at them they argued against it, and that will be their exact thoughts on how we are handling this, unless we MAKE IT FAIR.

Your correct John but the Doos will still come straight oot the East and face the prevailing West winds but what will happen we will have far better Open Results way oor slow wing beat Doos.
Delboy Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 what did he say derek He said Robbie," Im trying to be smart "
dal2 Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 John, I can see that you feel passionately aboot racin frae the east. I can see that the advantage of line over the southwill benifit the south but how does the advantage the east has at the moment negateted by the easterly race points?
Delboy Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Sorry i forgot big dereks got it framed. Sarcastic ...
JohnQuinn Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Your correct John but the Doos will still come straight oot the East and face the prevailing West winds but what will happen we will have far better Open Results way oor slow wing beat Doos. I don't mind ma doos coming out the East, not when they have been flying East to West all the road, the same as everyone else's, but sending doos west just to be Blown East then have to turn back westerly, i mean its no rocket science!
JohnQuinn Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 John, I can see that you feel passionately aboot racin frae the east. I can see that the advantage of line over the southwill benifit the south but how does the advantage the east has at the moment negateted by the easterly race points? Because every fancier gets a Truer distance coming from an Easterly race point (Truer in relation to how far each individual pigeon ACTUALLY flies), that gives everyone a chance to be able to one day say they have won the Ultimate prize in our sport. To continue on a line from Rennes say, just because some men decide it was a good place 100 years ago, simply means that not only would i need an Exceptional pigeon in my basket, i need a Very Rare set of racing conditions to happen at the same time. It may never be the case that i have a bird good enough to win it, but i'll never know unless i get as Fair a shout as every fancier in the race of winning it.

JohnQuinn Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 how do you know theres gonna be any wind john, I might have guessed you'd come up with a cracker George, i would be prepared to stake my life on our birds running into wind over a 550 mile stretch of land and sea, the argument is about Prevailing conditions over many years not in individual races/years.

The south birds will still get blown east then John?
Guest stb- Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 how do you know theres gonna be any wind john, In the UK the most common winds (known as the prevailing winds) are from the west or south-west. These winds arrive in Britain after crossing the Atlantic Ocean and is normal around 75% of the year . QUITE INTERESTING THATS HOW WE GET SO MUCH BLOODY RAIN
