yeboah Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Eddie Callaghan wasnt in the west section. Last winner of Gold cup was Matt White, Paisley 1980, so 31 years since Gold cup winnerDerek i for one do appreciate good fanciers like yourself and others in the north and west sections who fly a fantastic pigeons these pigeons on the day are every bit as good as any winners but are never going to get there just reward because of location and wind factor you can only prepare them to do there best and be proud of there achievements when studying results .
Delboy Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 rab i do know where you are coming from pal but how come they used to do it but dont now . drag Robbie, the west won in 1975 and 1980 because it had 3000 doos at race.
ALF Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 JOCK MARSHALL WON RENNES INTO HAMILTON IN 1952 OLD WULLIE REID TOLD ME THE STORY OF THAT DOO A FEW TIMES AND HE COULD REMEMBER THE RING NUMBER AND THE TIME IT WAS TIMED AT AND EVERYTHING WHEN HE WAS 93 YR OLD
robbiedoo. Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 i'm talking about the Gold Cup, that was the race i referred to earlier in my posts, that is the one we All want to win i would love to win anyone its all the same to me a national is a national how many times has the national been won in the west john
Guest stb- Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 drag Robbie, the west won in 1975 and 1980 because it had 3000 doos at race.aye that helps a lot asweel Derek but theres still a prob in the moffat pebbles route which they dont seem tae like a think the drag defo takes em a lot further up the east before they break now aswell but our race points dont help that either
JohnQuinn Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I don't know the answer to that but I'll lay you London to an Orange its less than 5% of them and that is not a true reflection of the quality of birds sent from the West.
robbiedoo. VMS Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 DONT THINK THE MEMBERS OF THE SNFC IN EAST WILL GO FOR IT.NOT MANY OF THEM COMMENTING ON THE MATTER.
robbiedoo. Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I don't know the answer to that but I'll lay you London to an Orange its less than 5% of them and that is not a true reflection of the quality of birds sent from the West. john the national has only ever been won 4 times in the history of the snfc in the north so please dont think you boys are the only ones that have got it hard we all have thats my point .sorry for going of topic about proposed race points but think about when you cross the channel there is no easy racing pal
Guest stb- Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I don't know the answer to that but I'll lay you London to an Orange its less than 5% of them and that is not a true reflection of the quality of birds sent from the West.approx 40 times but not many in last 40 years most way back in the early mid 1900,s when there were bigger west birdage than east
yeboah Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 aye that helps a lot asweel Derek but theres still a prob in the moffat pebbles route which they dont seem tae like a think the drag defo takes em a lot further up the east before they break now aswell but our race points dont help that eitherVery good point there regarding if birds are coming across peebles moffat route as moffat water valley up to selkirk is no go area second highest population peregrine outside cumbria much safer coming up A74 or M74 as it is now i no nowhere is ideal but that is why ayrshire get humped because they are coming from east and have to cross moffat water valley to get home on line anyway ,bop man told me at last count there were in excess of eighteen breeding pairs there not counting juveniles scary stuff
JohnQuinn Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 john the national has only ever been won 4 times in the history of the snfc in the north so please dont think you boys are the only ones that have got it hard we all have thats my point .sorry for going of topic about proposed race points but think about when you cross the channel there is no easy racing pal Might no be Easy but for Some its EASIER!! There is very little i can say about the number of wins in the north other than the distance being the biggest barrier to more success in to the Section. However when it comes to the Y/B National the doos are in the North before the West have one, some times the race in the North is finished before ours has started.

clockman Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Yes George and Reims has been raced twice and won in Annan and Dundee Any of the 2 would be fine. Three times Andy it was won in Longholm,
dal2 Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Magic reading guys!!Interesting that ecclefechan would have to give eyemouth 5 miles frae liege!
dal2 Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 hONESTLEY MATE YOU SHOULD TRY UP HERE ITS A DIFFERENT WORLD .i UNDRSTAND THERE GOOD DOOS EVERY WHERE BUT IN YOUR AREA ITS DIFFERENT.i DONT WANT TO BE DEROGATIVE. bECAUSE THERE ARE GOOD FANCIERS EVERYWHERE BUT DIO YOU HONESTLY THINK HODGKINS WOULD HAVE WON ALL THEY NATS UP HERE IN LANARKSHIRE???? Ye he would gethis share! Many have moved south tae fly their bags and win a nat in the south, many returned disappointed!
gulkie Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 To make these claims based on a one off race is ridiculous. This leige race came about due to restrictions of pigeons getting into france. If anybody thinks that it will be the same each year, well i think they want there heed looked .Conditions on the day of the race play the biggest part to what kind of race you get to make these claims about THE FAIREST RACE IN A LONG TIME BECAUSE OF ITS LOCATION IS NONSENSE.Take reims for example last year the snrpc got a bad race from reims but the very next week the snfc had a GREAT RACE.I think the big problem with the pigeon game is the fanciers dont know where the doos are going the doos themselfs dont know where there going for *expletive removed* sake whats going to be gained from going to Leige??a fair race ?? DONT THINK SO.totally agree weather conditions control races.
budgie Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Take the distance from Kelso-Glasgow Kelso- Aberdeen and with the Prevailing West Winds from France you know its a lot easier to get Doos up the East Coast then oor bundles of joy need tae take a sharp left and face it with lofts in the Macmerry area flying 5 mls further. Is that fair?
