duncandoo Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 yes i bought a grizzle cock at the late D Blackwoods clearance sale, the reason i went to this sale was because my wife was promised a pair of grizzles by a fancier from the Glasgow area two years previously when he came to collect a young bird we gifted him(still no sign of the promised grizzles after 4 years) i traced the origin of these grizzles, and it seems they are Bricouxs which originated from a Mr Copeland from Briech who i beleive was the grandfather of Dr Salmond from Shotts who also flies these grizzles. btw the first yb we bred from the cock we bought scored in the yb Nat 2009 and in 2010 another one scored and a bro. also timed on the day out of the seven birds we timed this year on the day four were bred from the grizzles including the nest mate of the dark cock you got Frank, however we have been lucky to acquire the sire and dam of the cock we bought at the sale through the kindness of a good friend of D.Blacwood.i was taken up to see mr copeland a few years back by my friend, ian moody of the motherwell club.now retired from the sport.and mr copeland gifted me half a dozen birds.not one was rung,as he did not like killing them.but those birds, especially the white grizzles, have bred me many winners, and my hut is full of these bloodlines.hardy doos and hard to lose p.s i was shure that he said they were marriots not bricouxs
budgie Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 Gents for those wishing to know the Bloodlines and the pigeons being sold go to www.jimcullen.co.uk using the top tool bar and you will see the outstanding performances put up by his birds sending average 4 birds to each race.

duncandoo Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 dr salmond was in my club, holytown f.c,for a few years until he moved to shotts,as it was the only place he could get that would let him fly doos. he had a lot of bother trying to buy a house with permission to fly doos, but i can say without doubt that the minister is one of the nicest people on the planet,he held the sheet up in the club every week but when he sent to the national you could not beat him.nice guy
