frosty Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 :egyptiai think the most id pay for youngens to race between £35 £60 depends who you buy them from
WulDon Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 it is always nice to try a couple YB's from other lofts, but my opinion these days is to line your own perches with your own pigeons... after two/three year you be lucky to have any of these introductions left.. there are exceptions but not many. we find our best YB's and yearlings have mostly been home bred, plus bringing in strange YB's these days could be a disaster health wise as well, in a current climate of rife YBS.... this is just my opinion based on starting back in 2006 with our Loft.2 flown at my address...
Tony C Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 I think a reasonable amount to pay would be £200 for 6 y/birds.
Roland Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 i have one from jim`s double sect winner which is a g/son of reims girl ! don`t know what yours is like butnot convinced about him ?? this will be his first season breading (L/B 2009) There we go again. Tis why 'Latebreds' get a bad name by fanciers.Only want a couple of small tosses as youngsters, then a few tosses and a couple of 100 mile races. It is the following year when they come into their own and excell! That is the very reason why many don't like them And further why it is a game of patience. Mind have had September born youngsters that have won the 'Scottish averages on their own.
blaz Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 £25 to £30 one of my best buys was £16.50 winning £617.50 in 1st year as yb

Delboy Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 paid 160 for 1 of derek hays it scored 3 times and 2 young birds of it have also scored lost the hen but it doesnt atter 2 us the cost if its good enough it stays if not its away simple You raced her and she paid her way, thats all we are looking for Derek, a bit of sport out of the ones we bring in . The hen was very well bred and you still raced her. You must have had confidence in your management m8, well done

robbiedoo. Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 i have one from jim`s double sect winner which is a g/son of reims girl ! don`t know what yours is like butnot convinced about him ?? this will be his first season breading (L/B 2009) like they say you can buy the birds but not the man . it dosent matter if you bought a youngster of his gold award winner there is no gaurntee no matter what or who you buy from.2 of the best birds i have in my loft just now 1 was gifted and the other cost me a fiver and for a fiver she has been sent to 2 races over 350 mile and been 1st north of scotland fed twice not bad eh i,ve just been lucky pay your money and takes your chance regardless of how much you pay they cant all be good JMO .me the most i would pay for a youngster to race would be £30 to £50 no more .
novo10 Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 You raced her and she paid her way, thats all we are looking for Derek, a bit of sport out of the ones we bring in . and Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 There is NO limit on what i would pay, IF it was a doo i really wanted and IF i had the the Money. We all strive to do the best we can and if i think some doos will improve my team, i will buy them, NO MATTER THE COST. I t all depends on your perspective.Surely then the progeny off the `NO MATTER THE COST` bird would not realise £50.Therefore every bird you race is not in your eyes worth more than £50.
Delboy Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 derek can only say the hen was class but coming from ur loft what else can u expect cheers mate Thanks m8, but I must say, we all have our fair share of crap
