Roland Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Try KSM couriers 01617976723 or 07854540947 it said on our Couriers listing. Paul and a few had had good results! So as I had tried one or two and more to get a pigeon back from Scotland I did phone them on Tuesady afternoon. Mark said they were up in Scotland next day and that they could cut across and pick up for me. I said I'd pay cash on delivery, no problem says he. I of course asked how much! £35, and this is regardless of number, is same price. - I think a lot would have an added bit, but don't know. I left full particulars. Matey said that they had contacted him... and supplied boxes free. Informed next morning that they were picked up. Arrived today at 10 : 15 safe and sound. First class, and great price. An easy to relate to and understand company. Yes I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Well done KSM

Fair Play Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Used Mark and found him to be first class and not many treking all the way up here for £35 quid
Wiley Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 KSM is the cheapest courier ive found to deliver to my neck of the woods
Delboy Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Used Mark and found him to be first class and not many treking all the way up here for £35 quid Not having a go at KSM, just disagree that anybody can say any pigeon courier is value for money these days. Put it this way, if you had a nightmare yb race and lost all your team, if 20 of them were reported then would you have the same opinion on how cheap the couriers are.
Fair Play Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Dammed if you do dammed if you don't, lost a lot more than twenty but never failed to collect if reported.
robbiedoo. Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Used Mark and found him to be first class and not many treking all the way up here for £35 quid i have used mark a few times and found him to be a proper gentleman and a first class courier .with the price of fuel nowadays £35 is not a bad price as has to make a living out of it aswell so all in i think he is very reasonable in todays climate .
Delboy Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 SPDS charge £12 anywhere in Scotland.Yous guys are giving these couriers the wrong idea. Hes a nice guy, hes a gentleman, hes good to talk to,the company are easy to understand, bullsh/t. My concern is if the pigeon was in good nick, and I am not being ripped off. Who gives a monkey if the guy you are dealing with has a nice manner about him as long as the job he does is competent.I can guarantee you this, if KMS took £12 and turned up at your door like a bear with a sore head, you would still use him ( as long as you got your bird in time and in good fettle )

Put it this way, if you had a nightmare yb race and lost all your team, if 20 of them were reported then would you have the same opinion on how cheap the couriers are. True Delboy, But at £35 that in it’s self is a great starting price to Scotland from where I am. And if I had 10 - 20 reported in Scotland and got them back for £35 then that again is far far below any price I have seen EVER! Yes even the Starting price. Saw one same price actually, but never went to Scotland, so that was just a eye catcher! With no £20 - £5 or whatever after the first 2 or 5 etc. this courier is by far the cheapest into Scotland with out a shadow of DOUBT! Let alone no extra charge for extra birds. Indeed this is, and has been on the biggest cripes of 'How come the extra £££££££££££'s for delivering to the same address'! Even if it was just 70p for extra etc..... They don't charge for Boxes. So yes Delboy, a great price, and above all a great service!
Delboy Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 You are the same guys that complain if the birdage goes up 1p Most pigeons arent worth fking £35 and dont kid yourself that they are. How can you all condone these prices and expect to encourage youngsters into the sport.

How can you all condone these prices and expect to encourage youngsters into the sport. Think delboy that you are on about something completely different. From Scotland to Kettering £35 is compare to others a good price if you want / or have to retrieve a bird 300 odd miles. Won't fit in a 5m envolope. Other do use SPD to retrieve for £12 or whatever thay agree to and then another £30+ to get it down to here or London. I bet SPD would be a darn site dearer if he delivered to London! And as for the pigeons worth, well that is another story.... But youngsters / stockbird will be going ove the borders both ways, and if you Bought 12 birds of Wiley, and they were delivered to you in good nick and via a good courier, I bet you wouldn't beat the £35 os Ksm.... and then even you would say, a Great deal, and a good price!
Wiley Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Ksm from Scotland to London(roughly 421 miles) cost £35. From Yeovil to london(127miles roughly) from another company cost me an extra fiver due to my postcode, which find is ridiculous!! Alot of these couriers these days whack more money on your journey dependant on your post code, even if the distance is sorter. Ksm i feel is good value for money, and dont whack the prices up because i live in london.
billt Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 What price a taxi from Scotland to London?
Wiley Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 What price a taxi from Scotland to London? well 12 miles in a taxi cost me £40, so doing my maths from scotland to london in a cab you are looking at £1,400
billt Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 well 12 miles in a taxi cost me £40, so doing my maths from scotland to london in a cab you are looking at £1,400Yeh strange that, it's only another motor vehicle
Delboy Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Now ye are getting *expletive removed* ridiculous, bottom line here is, the maniacs are taking over the asylum. If you went to the first ob race next year and find out that the birdage is up to £10 for the first few races and then up to £20 a bird after 250 miles, how many would ye send. Ye see, I can talk sh/te too

Fair Play Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Spds would not do a pickup for Allymac Sanquhar to Oban so some of are lucky to get the £13.80 delivery nice to see that you can talk sh*te as well

Delboy Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 You see, Im not against anybody earning a crust.KMS are maybe one of the better courier services out there at the moment. The price of fuel etc does force prices up in all businesses, but, the main problem lies with the pigeon fraternity itself. During the season we get our strays returned for £4-5 and as soon as we get into September the costs are 7 fold. This is not the couriers fault, it is ours.( WE ACCEPT IT )We should be continually helping each other with stray pigeons, the Governing bodies could put their heads together and set up a service that helps all pigeon keepers. Even if they put £1 on all union fees, this would help pay some sort of Union Pigeon Courier Service. Food for thought, dont you think?
