sapper756 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I have just returned from the Kirkcaldy marking station, and my birds were through and both ets and stb clocks set, and before I left only 1 other fancier turned up with 1 bird, at that time there were approximately 54 National doos through. I know it was only 3.30pm and the station is open till 6pm, but the talk was that they expected a maximum of 200 doos from this marking stationhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif It will be interesting to hear feedback from all other marking stations as PB members return home and come onto the sitehttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gifGOOD LUCK TO THOSE WHO ARE SENDING http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

slim45 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 is that all from the west just over 200 birds i thought there would have been more with ypres being a good race for returns
duncandoo Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 is that all from the west just over 200 birds i thought there would have been more with ypres being a good race for returnsi think folk are keeping what old birds they have left for next year
frank-123 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 the scottish national flying club has some serious decisions to make about future race programsgone is the hay day of long distance racing for one reason and one reason only people don't have the birds to give it a go due to the terrible losses they have taken since april we have sat back and just excepted these losses time to do something now
VMS Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 In my short time competing in National racing in Scotland this seems, apart from the odd exception the norm. Many top quality pigeons that have scored several times at this distance are lost just as they can be lost at the shorter distances.I don't believe that this is a new phenomena as in years gone by there was also only 1 bird on the day from these distance type National races on occasion.Onwards and Upwards as they say.Good luck too all that have sent to this race.
geordie1234 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 i must admit as some one trying to get in to the sport the way people are talking it looks very bleak with bad losses everyweek

thunderbigbaws Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 It honestly canny be that bad with the losses can it Can someone tell me how to deal with bop everyone is saying we have to fight back what can be really do about them to many losses at the short inland nationals, should only be 1 or none and the rest over the channel, its only my opinion, dropped 16 at bovingdon and 6 at eastbourne and full returns at ypres. be lucky if i send 2 or 3 to the inland national next year, i would rather lose them at channel racing if at all. snfc built on distance racing not any more

frank-123 Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 yes, very poor just thinking my own fed made the correct decision to go to ypres it can only be the break between races where guys have had enough and want to get on training there youngbirdsreally poor entry from fife can you imagine the turnout for this race if it was not a fed race
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 just thinking my own fed made the correct decision to go to ypres it can only be the break between races where guys have had enough and want to get on training there youngbirdsreally poor entry from fife can you imagine the turnout for this race if it was not a fed race Wasn't that long ago that there would have been 1000 doos away from fife in this race, but its not just fife that's struggling as section E birdage from this race is down 33% since last year.
bullcock Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 Yep the losses have been very high and costly to members and the sport in general, and yes we need to review the program at fed and national levels.but on a plus note Ive never seen so many day birds from the gold cup race and ypres was in general a good race also. The Inlands are too short, Bourges is too long we have too many races all these issues have been discussed over the last few weeks on PB but we need to make some sense of it all and come up with solutions to all the issues. Has anybody got the solution to these issues? Fire away....
