Hey lenwadbob, you going senile, you race the RING not the pigeon, even that is out of date now ,with ets,its pointless even having a yearly ring, waste of time.pointless. someone should put a propersition in for 2010,racebirds only need a ets ring to be able to compete in any race :)think about it ::) you know its the future 8) :);)

No asha, not going senile, just taking a leaf out of your book but making a good argument for one of the best topics that has been on here in a long while, NOT nit picking like you normally do  ;)

We are clutching at straws here!

The ring is a form of identification and record of year of birth anyone putting rings on pigeons with the objective of winning old bird prizes with a young bird is cheating! no ifs or buts plain and simple cheating and should be dealt with accordingly.

We do have a rule that covers ungentlemanly conduct this rule should be used if anyone tries to get round the rules in a decietful manner.

Hi Bob, very interesting point but would reference to these rules be for the Retension & Keeping of Documents / Records etc?

Only one ring would be submitted and recorded onto the race sheet, the old ring for o/bird races then the 2009 ring for y/bird races.

120. Each Club shall keep a record for a

minimum of two years showing the full ring

number, colour, sex and owner’s name of

every pigeon sent in races organised by the

Club, whether competing or not.

178. In no circumstances may the details of

the full ring number, colour, sex and owners’

name of every pigeon sent in a race arranged

by an Organisation be destroyed less than two

years after the date of the raced.

So it is NOT the ring that is being raced, as rings do not contain colour or sex of the bird, NOT even on the respective governing bodies records of ownership.

I`ve sent plenty of times in the NFC with 2 diffrent year rings on seperate legs, just with black tape on the 1 you don`t want wrote down. it looks justlike a clip ring, and no-one can do anything about it,for sure.

Mayby but was one of the rings a old ring and the other a youngbird ring and did you enter it in a old bird race.

grizzal i will explain again 08 09 if you race in 09 old birds tape round 09 ring leaving 08 means old bird when you race young birds tape round 08 ring means young bird simple

Rings are registration details and as such full details from both rings should be on a race sheet. Otherwise it opens a can of worms!

We should be looking at ways of legitimately competing with young birds alongside  the old birds surely this is a good idea and when weather is not to favourable the old birds will help the youngsters leave the racepoint so reducing losses.

PS  putting the tape on is tampering with a birds registration details!

How can a bird identified as an old bird on race sheets and records then go on to be identified as a young bird? If it is breaking the rules to race young birds with old birds then once you cut off the 2008 ring and uncover the 2009 you have broke the old bird racing rules because you raced 2009 bird in old bird races.

By RPRA rules it is the ring and not the pigeon which is deemed to be raced. if the double rung pigeon has the appropriate ring covered or taped up, only showing the ring to which races is entered then this is accepted under RPRA RULES.

Call THE RPRA and you will find that it is a lupehole in their rules which can be exploited and used to the benefit of who wants to use them.

oh happy double rung days !!!

pigeonscout you dont cut any rings off read my post again

oh happy days

Cut off or cover up makes no difference you are still turning what you raced as an old bird into a young bird and once you do that you have broke the old bird rules.

Pigeonscout, you would have to cut the 2006 birds leg of to get a 2009 ring on it,the idea is to get the youngbird into the oldbird races for experience across channel, big money down here in youngbird nat, classic, open, gold rings ect later in the season.

That was not the question the question was what if you could put a 2009 ring onto a 2006 bird leg. Is that not the same as putting an 2006 ring unto a 2009 leg as far as rules go.

If it is for experience then send them as trainers simple.

pigeonscout you are making this hard to explain you can only put 2 rings on when its in the nest 1 ring the year its born lets say 2009 then you put an old ring on the other leg any old ring will do like 2005 2006 2007 or 2008 ok dont go chopping their legs off

If you put a 2008 ring onto a 2009 young bird in order to deceived people into believing it is an old bird then that young bird is deemed an old bird by deception and in my view should not be raced with old birds. Any member who deliberately deceives in order to break the rules directly or indirectly should be kicked out.

Yes... If its common practice to race yb's with ob's then why would you think you need to fool someone into thinking you were racing old birds by using old rings alongside correct rings?
