sapper756 Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 I was wondering how forum members got on from these 2 nationals, regarding returns. I only got 1 from 6 sent to Falaise. Still hope to see more :-/
JOHNNY WISHBONE Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 The SNFC really have to take a look at their transporters they use. The SNRPC have had better race returns over the season with their transportation due simply to the fact that there is water on 3 sides of the baskets. Its ok saying they've been ok in the past but nowadays with the aggression that widowhood racing brings the pigeons dont get water easily.
sapper756 Posted July 22, 2008 Author Report Posted July 22, 2008 Just heard that at the finishing of clocks, only 31 birds timed in, in the Fife Federation :-/

How very true, one I have been harking on about for 5 years now. The silly answer that it is the 'Dog'd B*****cks' and suffices doesn't stop the same members asking and moaning most weeks 'Did you give them any waters... mine came home thirsty as ...' etc. Simple with a fish pump... one used for a say 4 foot tank to have running WATER on Four sides. This means also that it would reduce any contamination from affected birds! And some fall on stoney ground eh!
midnight_son Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 2/3 for me 3/6 for my dad 2/3 for clubmate
Delboy Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 4/7 for me but lets look at the overall picture. Some of the best fanciers in Scotland havent seen a feather.A really hard race with a strong head wind and maybe something in the atmosphere that we dont know about. There is definately something wrong with the returns in the pigeon sport at present. Midnight- son , Jamie, how did yer next door neighbour get on, as I, unusually, didnt see his name on libline. The man has been flying very well this year.In fact, I havent spoken to him yet to congratulate him on his National win.
Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Hi Delboy, agree with you 100% mate, however this was a fact before this weekend, as it remains a fact now. In todays long races you very much send your birds and take your chance. Not to get a good bird in the clock is one thing, losing say a 5 year old hen who has done it before, is yet another thing. Realy feel for those fanciers who in essence have to start all over again. All the best mate
chrissyboy Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 The situation with the snfc transporter should be discussed at AGM with proposal of same being made , i am in agreemnt that a new one is required and the balance sheetappears strong enough to undertake this outlay
daleren Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 cant complain sent one timed yesterday morning 11.49
Guest IB Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 I think the SNFC have a committee looking at transport options, options which include a new transporter. Agree about water on 3 sides. Have seen a prototype with 1 external drinker (usual one hung on the back at corridor) and 2 internal, one along each side wall, and resting on the grid floor of the basket, placed from the corridor, and with drip/dropping tray beneath this floor..

Do the officials have the forsight to rectify this problem or will it just plod along and sweep it under the carpet like the other problems the club has...
Guest Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 4 out of 5 snrpc i feel the birds are much more at ease in the geraldy crates as well they can see out and the 3 drinking /feeding system is creat well done gordon geddis for haveing the foresight to get thease crates and transporters its 1 thing less to think about for the long races

johno Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 a bit late now. euro exchange means cost has gone up markedly. vat at 19% to be added. funds are dwindling £30K lost in the last two years. this year will probably make a loss equal to the previous two. cash availabilty will not be good. price of fuel rising and forecasts indicate the price will double by next year. what size of transporter would be bought. who would manage the transport? these are difficult issues when times are good. given the past performance regarding efficient use of resources i doubt whether purchasing a new/newer transporter is within the reach of most.

maverick Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 ONLY PROBLEM WITH S.N.F.C. IS WE WILL NEED A BIG TRANSPORTER NOT A TRANSIT VAN

johno Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 john wishbone and clockman i am stirring nothing. i am posting observations if they make you feel uneasy maybe you know more than the rest of us. this brings to mind the old proverb there is no smoke without fire. you two seem to have stuck the match with your comments. as to transit vans a prominent official knows where to hire them if needed. he has used them to transport his fed this season. come clean and let us all see what you know that we dont.
Guest bigda Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 glasgow fed have their own transporter. where dose gordon geddis transporter fit in with your club
johno Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 my club is part of glasgow fed. gordon is a member of glasgow fed and secretary of my club. we use the glasgow transporter.
