Ronnie Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 8 cocks widowhood some hens paired to each other (dunno how this is gonna work yet as they will be in with the youngbirds on the darkness) youngbirds on darkness

Tony C Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 24 w/hood cocks 7 pair of naturals I like to have between 35-40 y/birds trained up for the first race.
Roundo Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Ob's - 25 pair on roundabout, with the odd spare hen (always come in handy) Yb's - 45 max on darkness. Cheers, Colin.
Shortcut Lofts Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 35 R/Bout Cocks 35 R/Bout Hens - expected to go from first race to last race. Normally 100 ybs but this year im trying only 50 all on the dark.
Roland Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 11 Cocks and 12 hens celibacy. then mated up for the Distance - if any left lol. Mind have a tad too many really... because they are mainly bought in as y/b's and some are yearlings, and some two year old. Will breed about 40 - 50 even, (Some from the stock loft of course) and if I have a good season I will be vastly overstocked next season. 12 pairs of racers is as much as I want to be able to manage.
stiffler Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 15 Widowhood cocks 6 hens on jealousy system and 50ish youngs birds ;D
Guest spin cycle Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 30 pairs of natural oldbirds. i'd like to fly 2 systems but to time consuming viz supervising excersize periods. only 16 ybs on darkness. i can't understand why people raise such large teams of ybs for about 9 races....you either loose them or end up binning them...thats not for me.
grizzal Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Cocks =15 Hens = 15 both R/About Y/B = 30 split using the sliding door for racing
andrecrock Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 1, Old cocks,8 widowhood and 2 natural 2, Old hens,4 natural 3, Youngsters,70 youngsters, hens on darkeness and cocks natural CHEERS
REDROCKET Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 we fly a big team of y/bs so it gives us a better chance of taking the first 10 positions each week and with the ets in full flow now it might just be possible this season.lol ha ha (ps only kidding)
Guest IB Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 14 cocks, 22 hens, all for racing. Still to work out how to go; I think my 2-yo's will be Natural racing out to 600 miles; yearlings look like being mainly jeolousy, with max 8 pairs with 1 x cock paired to 2 hens. Complications if some of the yearling hens pair up earlier: yearlings to race out to around 450 miles.. YBs perhaps 20 max racing out to 185 / 250 miles; Natural.
alec guinness Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 26 racing cocks 30 racing hens 55 young birds split 20 on darkness, remaining 30 nat. old birds flown on nat. all yearlings to coast 380,old birds 500 plus.youngbirds 160mls,darkness yb nat 270mls,heres hoping. ps some l/breds trained raced lightly.
Simeon Turner Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 We will have - 12 celibate cocks - (6 for each Saturday club) 24 widowhood cocks - (12 for each Saturday club) This is for 2 Saturday clubs plus possibly the NFC and Sheffield 5 bird club if we join! Not sure whether to bother with the hens this year or not, if we do it will be a dozen maximum with the channel in mind! 40 - 45 young birds all on the darkness - these will be raced split up and let together on a friday.
ALF Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 about 20 pair on roundabout and will pair them up again ( well whats left ) at the 300 mile mark and i'll have 12 spare hens that will go to every inland race also have 6 pair of yearlings that all going well will be raced natural :-/
