naedoos Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 i think the wind determins what line the birds take coming home from france if the wind is west the birds will hug the east coast or near to it and if its east they will come up the west coast till they hit bandit territory (cumbria ) who knows what way they go then . certainly not north . well most of the time ,i remember years ago a top flier in the south timed in from france with birds along with his heading north west and no one timed these birds where did they go ?ps this happened regularly Aye one o the mysteries Stuart, maybe just followers wi naeplace tae go after the leader left them :-/
hotrod Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 100 mile east cost of Ireland would give you 580 mile need any more distance go out further ;D ;D ;D ;D i can now start to smell some yellow stuff ;D blowing from the east but the birds on a boat at stranraer or girvin ;D ;D think you mean 100 mile off west coast of ireland danny?

duncandoo Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 many a bird that has been lost has been lifted by the longer races these birds heading north west were probably lifted by these birds bet it put a smile on many a fanciers face getting back an old favourate that they thought was lost
Novice Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 What started as a deliberate wind up has actually taken the form of a good debate. Well done lads
walterbmasson Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 DUNCANDOO THE NORTH FIRST DROP IS ABERDEEN THERE BIRDS HAS TO DO THE SAME WATCH SHORTER BIRDS DROP OUT THEN THE FRASERBURGH DOOS HAS ANOTHER 40 MILES AND SOME OF YOU WEST COAST FANCIERS THINK YOUR HARD DONE BY THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO TO SATISFY YOUS IS HAVE YOUR OWN WEST COAST NATIONAL LET YOUR BIRDS GO 1HR BEFORE THE REAL DOOS
slinky slitheroe Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I dont think the east boys would do too good fae there ,there no coast to follow.

duncandoo Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 the best sugestion i have heard, seperate liberations or just a west coast national then we can get some real racing from sartilly, tours and the real national racing we got twenty years ago instead of going farther and farther east to suit the east coast fanciers it was not that long ago that to win a national in the east was thought to be a miracle now it has turned full circle and we are now in that position

Guest frank dooman Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 ive read lots of threads on this subject ive good friends in the east and west ive raced in the extream west and central ive allways said the west is the pits of the earth and i would stand by that but to be quite honest iam getting a bit fed up listening to lots of fanciers from the west bleating about where they race too you cant help where you live unless you win the lotto so go get the birds that will race to your area just like all the great fanciers from the west that have beaten you too it 3 years ago a man proved his birds and won the nat from port glasgow ( hotrod ) that should have given every one hope some took it some still just complain in the last couple of years the prevailing west wind hasnt been prevailing so that should have evened it up a bit as far as the north i do not want to judge them as i have never raced there but if the birds are comming up the east coast as they normanly do and cut the corner from eyemouth to dunbar and into the tay area they will cut a good few miles off there distance but at the end of the day take any good doo man with good doo,s and put them any where they will win and this old disscusion will go on for ever and remember we ALL[ fly in the worst loft pos!!!!!!!!
hotrod Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 your correct stuart i have to give you 16 miles overflyat REIMS yes harry and i need every bit of it ha ha . GOOD PIGEONS/MEN WILL WIN NO MATTER WERE YOU RACE .EAST OR WEST

Guest uphallhen Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Here lad's there are alot of real good flyers east and west, but the point is the wind helps the east coast flyer 8/10 of the time if the truth is to be told, and see the national sprint club bring back tours
