  1. Some bad and good news :-/ Over the weekend, what I'm pretty sure was a rat, got into the stock loft and took the two Staff Van Reet ybs, and also another yb from another section. In the time since I've secured the way it got in, and split a number of the stock birds - whilst securing their stock pens. I was well p'd off that this happened, but at least they did not take any of the stock birds. The better news is that my last hatching of this year - which I was going to keep as latebred stock - hatched 2 days ago. These will now be the birds on offer for the raffle. They are Karel Boeckx pigeons from John Harcus and Derek Parr origin. I'll put a couple of photos and more details up later. Richard
  2. It was brought to my attention that the RP werent accepting race results forwarded from the mini-sites (thanks Clockman). I've spoken to Steve Dunn, and made changes tonight with the format of the sendin system; everything should be in order again now. Something Steve asked me about; could all administrators check in there mini-site details (once logged in) that all details are up-to-date, especially 'County' and 'Country', as these are used by the RP to section the results. Richard
  3. Its just like posting on the forum, just giving a date, and body of the post is what the event is. The only work required is to keep a clubs race programme up to date, an entry to the calendar for each race; its just I dont have the time to keep myself up to date with every club/combine's race programme for which most I'm not in the area and not a member. Anyone?
  4. Photo taken this morning, the other youngster had just departed stage right ;D
  5. Thanks Hyacinth If anyone would like to manage just a club/combine's race programme on the calendar let me know.
  6. Loft visits available by prior arrangement only , so I can clean the birds out beforehand ;D ;D Was going to take an updated photo today, just I forgot to take my phone over to the loft :B Some more info about the birds: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1123587165/ and also Lot 33 at: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1138215962/s-0/
  7. Hey , I'm looking for someone or maybe even one person from each country, to become a race calendar manager. What will be required is; keeping the forum calendar up to date with liberation dates and racepoints for all the major national and classic clubs, and many of the larger amal/combines in your country. The appointed person(s) will be given global calendar permissions on the forum, and will be shown on the forum with the 'part of the team' icon. It is imperative that entries to the calendar are clear, coherent and have a common style; it is also important that it is kept up to date with changes to the programme, especially with this years DEFRA regulations causing some changeable programmes. If there is more than one applicant I'll flip a coin or something similar Richard
  8. Posts advertising a direct rival for obvious reasons wont be permitted. Richard
  9. Answer to a couple of questions Gez: It really depends on who's statistics you are looking at; of which I've tried a few; but from the server stats we're getting between 1,800 - 2,800 unique visitors daily. Pigeon_Man: We are currently are on a server which hosts more than one website if it is a peak time for them as well as ourselves I'm affraid we'll be getting the error message too. I've had a few things changed as to how our server is running (with effect yesterday); if anyone getts the 'cgi-limit' error between now and next Thursday, please let me know. Hopefully this testing will ensure the right solution is found Richard
  10. Here is a list of the mini-sites taken offline, if no contact is made by the person running the mini-site or a club member wishing to take over the mini-site, they will be deleted in 7 days time. This doesnt stop any of the clubs or feds signing up for a mini-site at a later date, however the information already submitted to these mini-sites will be lost. Aberdeen Central R P C Roseworth H.S. 11. Thankyou for letting us know of the incident, and risks that may be higher than normal. It is despicable what lengths some people will go to, to silence peoples views and opinions. I am more than happy to help the Up North Combine site in any way I can to combat these people succeeding again. I would like to reassure Pigeonbasics members that your security is my top priority with any data to which you submit to Pigeonbasics.com. The software to which this forum is run upon is open source, and is continually being updated with features and any security upgrades to fix any flaw as soon as it is spotted by a dedicated team of individuals (and indeed open to public scrutiny). I endeavour to keep this forum updated with these features and patches as soon as they are available; and indeed I have had some input into creating some of the items which are currently installed and some items which I know will be coming in the next update. If any member has any questions or queries, please dont hesitate to contact me in the usual ways (pm, email, post). Richard
  12. Hi, The error message which some of you are getting is because there are too many server requests going on at that split second when you try to access the forum (i.e. too many people accessing the forum at the same time). If you do get this error, please try accessing the forum again (pressing Refresh), usually letting only a few moments pass will enable you to get on. This isnt a hacking error and has no reason to be concerned (other than you cant get onto the forum for a few minutes :-/!). I am in correspondence with our hosts to do whatever we can to enable more people to access the forum in peak times, and indeed at any time - as our visitor statistics have climbed continuously since the opening of Pigeonbasics.com. Richard
  13. Sounds to me we have become too popular! Lots of people visiting the forum at the same time, server goes 'aahhh' and throws some of you the error message. I am looking into what we can do to stop it doing that though. Has anyone had the error on any page away from the forum?
  14. I will have a look into it. Had the error once myself, many moons ago, so just thought it was one of the quirky little things that computers sometimes do Is the error simply a blank page with only that text? Richard
  15. Hi, If anyone lives in the vicinity of a liberation site, I'd be more than happy if you could send me a couple of photos of the lib site and a description if possible. Info. will be uploaded to http://www.pigeonbasics.com/liberationweather/ and accredited to the author. I hope (sometime :-/) to get round the liberation sites in the UK to take photos and write the descriptions, but I think it could be a wee while yet; so any information would be appreciated I will be looking for a sponsor for the liberation weather section of the website, if you know anyone who may be interested, please let me know Richard PS: I know that some of the Scottish liberation sites are missing from the weather section, I am in the process of trying to get details for the Scottish specific sites, these will be added as soon as.
  16. Thanks for letting us know Tony. Attached photos of the parents. Darker Grizzle is the cock, lighter the hen. The birds are John Harcus' (thanks for the loan ), who topped the Fife Fed (3,200 birds) from Ripon last week with a hen bred from this pair, the hen also won 3rd club the week before from Otterburn.
  17. Pic of the ybs, taken yesterday, rung them today.
  18. I have disabled all of the mini-sites for which I didnt receive a reply to the new password email. If your mini-site has been disabled, and you wish to reinstate it, please send me an email asap, as these mini-sites will be deleted in a couple of weeks time. I will be contacting these mini-site administrators with an email (or through the forum as I notice a few are members) to notify you before I delete the mini-site. Richard
  19. Thanks for the kind comments. Westy, if you win the ybs are yours, if Snowy wins their his, no sharing ;D
  20. I deleted the two posts, after reading them and thinking the same as Bruno's first comments. I feel that Chris's post, simply gave the link of the SNRPC, for those who reading the topic found the SNFC link interesting may also find that link interesting, and I felt it didn't warrant the two comments that came afterwards. I don't hold an opinion on either club, and my decision to delete any posts is and will continue to be for the good of the website, by preventing the arguments and bad feeling that has escalated previously, and also any libelous comments which could jeopardise the sites future. Richard
  21. They would be more than welcome to collect If the winner doesnt want the pair (..lol) they may offer them to a new starter, of which I think we have a few on the forum Richard
  22. Hello To thank the members and visitors of Pigeonbasics.com I am going to raffle a pair of Staff Van Reet Ybs. I'd like to thank everyone for taking part in our website, posting on the forum, administering a mini-site, donating to our charity auction in Feb, etc, etc, whatever you have contributed, thankyou So have a chance of winning the pair of youngsters you will have to be an active member of the forum (logged within 7 days of the draw), and have posted more than 10 posts (qualitative posts). Each member which satisfies this criteria will automatically entered in the draw. New members will be entered in the draw if they satisfy the above criteria. The draw will be completely random, and conducted Thursday 22nd June 2006 (subject to change). The youngsters are presently just under a week old (will post a photo from the loft tomorrow). The winning member will be responsible for Amtrak (or other carrier) costs. Richard Webmaster - Pigeonbasics.com P.S. I know if you register for more than one user account (you will be removed from the draw!).
  23. Ross is moving some of his site accross servers in the next few days and the past few days. Chat room could be a little intermittent. Richard
