  1. It means your IP address (identifier for you while you surf the internet) has been logged. This just means if I need to ban anyone, there is a means to do it. It is also a mechinism for me to see if two members are indeed the same person they would have the same IP address. ;D ;D
  2. I dont think thats the correct procedure to become a moderator ;D ;D
  3. Think I've just posted information covering this topic elsewhere, so wont duplicate it. Richard
  4. What happened was... Problematic posts are now moved to a 'moderators only' board - a kind of recycle bin, instead of being deleted. When we click to move a post to this board it the forum will try and leave a link to it in the new forum; and of course only the moderators can see the topic once it has been moved to this private message board. The topics get dealt with in this way (moved instead of deleted) now for a number of reasons: - it is then possible for other moderators, and myself to read the problematic topics (if deleted we'd never see the actual posts) - other moderators and myself can then asses if the removal was justified - if there are serious problems with a members post(s) the evidence is still available for me to make any decisions on their membership status - if a topic is actually found to be OK, it can be moved back into the public forum Doing things this way leaves an accountable trail for me to follow if needed. The link left to the new board that the topic has moved to isnt an error, but usually used for if say for instance someone mistakenly posts a '2 pairs of Sootjens for sale' topic on the General Board, it then will be moved to the 'Birds For Sale' board and the link will be left for people to follow from the General Board. (Note: I quite often get messages, 'where has my topic gone' etc.) Any questions, let me know Richard
  5. Just got back from being away. Looking into this just now. Could someone forward an email that you have received in this way to webmaster@pigeonbasics.com Cheers
  6. Yes there is only one General Board, (sounds like a football chant ;D) With the amount of topics active each day if its a few days old it could be a few pages down. Try the Search, top of the page, or on the bottom of the General Board index page.
  7. Well nearly; The 'Google Bot', 'Yahoo Bot', etc that you see browsing the forum here are the search engine's way of indexing whats on the web. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_crawler The more pages on Pigeonbasics that the bots crawl hopefully the higher we will rank in the search engine listings . Brining more people to the site ;D
  8. Every user must signup to the forum with a valid email address (validated before the new user gets access to post on the forum). The privacy settings on the forum here are such that no-one, other than me, have access to a members email address, much like you said snowy.
  9. Added a few more smilies for you ;D To get them you've got to go to the 'Reply' page and click the link 'Add More Smilies' just under the smilies already there.(ok)(bunny)(shrug)(sleeping)(shy)(hehe)(goofy)
  10. As long as the photos are under 768kb (to upload) the forum will now resize them automatically for you ;D
  11. Thanks, didnt show up in Firefox. Fixed now ;D
  12. In the last update, I took those two buttons out as they are now linked near to the top of the page anyway. Could you let me know the address of the page, and any more details, cant seem to find that one :-/
  13. Have just updated the forum to the latest version of the forum software. Changes are mostly; cosmetic, bug fixes, RSS feeds and users can login using their email address rather than username if they wish.
  14. Sorry the votes arn't working at the moment. Hopefully will have an upgrade to the forum later tonight which will fix this, and add a few more tweaks
  15. cousin it ;D

  20. There is no problem with two or more accounts through one computer; as long as its two or more different people.
  21. There is (generally) no reason for members to sign up for two (or more) names. There are instances that a member may have more than one though, and I would ask them to let me know first. If anyone suspects two members to be the same, please let me know by PM. If you have two accounts and have a valid reason, or want to shut one of them also PM me. For the record, I have more than one account, Webmaster - dealing with website and admin issues, Loftmanager - whoever runs the Fantasy Birds competition will have access to this one (me currently), and mealybar - which is my regular account posting my own personal opinions.
  22. Hi, Over the next few months I will be working to redesign the Pigeonbasics layout, add more features and generally tie everything together to give users a much better experience. I have a number of ideas, but I would like anyone with an idea of how to make the site easier to navigate, easier to find what your looking for, and ideas for new features. Primarily the redesign will not effect the forum, other than perhaps slight layout changes, as it is maintained by third party updates (eblah), so I would like to concentrate on other parts of the site. Anything, small or large; now is the time to let me know what you would like to see on these pages. Richard
  23. I've just added two new buttons to the forum menu. 'Unread' - Will display a page of topics that you have not read (member must be logged in). 'Latest' - Will display a page of the latest posts to the forum.
  24. Welcome to the Pigeonbasics.com Message Forum! Feel free to introduce yourself here. [maybe current members can get the ball rolling ;D] This topic was an idea of Samantha's
