Maybe we can compromise If you want to create a new topic, say 'Introduce Yourself Here' type thing, and I'll sticky it (topic will stay at the top of the topics list). :) -
Hi, Yes there will be Online Shows this year; however I've still got 2 races and some very moulty pigeons, it'll be a wee while yet. Richard

The Mickie B Shield - Entries please!
Webmaster replied to Webmaster's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Competely my mistake. Young fanciers should read novice fanciers (just edtied it now). By Novice fancier we mean anyone who has raced competitivley for less than 4 years. Of course this still includes young fanciers Sorry about that. -
Calling all young fanciers, The Mickie B Shield is presented to a novice fancier who has attained outstanding achievement in the sport in 2006, it is presented in memory of the late forum member Mickie B. The award isn't about winning races or person with the most prize cards. We want to hear your stories, what you've had to overcome to race your pigeons, interesting and quirky tales. Some things to include in your entry would be: How old you are, How long you have raced pigeons/kept pigeons, How many do you keep, Do you race on your own, or is someone in the family race too, Are you part of a partnership, What positions have you won this year, and what birdage was there in these races (as much detail about setting your birds up and getting them to perform in that race please - remember it doesn't have to be a 1st place, it doesn't have to be 10th, if you sent 10 and got them all home within 5 mins but were just off the result sheet; that's a pretty remarkable performance; let us know!), What size is your loft, Do you drive (how do you go about training your pigeons if not)... I'm sure your getting the idea now! To enter, please write your piece (above), don't worry about the style of writing or your spelling, its not a spelling competition! Please include your full name, and also the name of your club and federation. Winners will receive; the trophy (for one year), plenty of publicity on both Pigeonbasics.com, and in the BHW. We may even sort out some goodies for you too . And all entrants will receive a certificate. Dont forget, include the small quirky little stories of whats happened over the season, things maybe you wouldnt normally say. Entries to webmaster@pigeonbasics.com - marked 'Mickie B Shield'. Good luck! Richard P.S. For novice fanciers we mean anyone who has raced pigeons for less than 4 years.

I've also just setup the Lost & Found forum boards to allow guest posting, that is they dont have to be members to post in there. Might entice a few more to report strays, especially non-fanciers who would have to sign up just to report a pigeon. If there becomes a problem with spam, etc, I'll change it back.
-
When you get a PM, spam, abusive, etc you can report it to me, this gives me access to who the sender was, what was contained in that pm and times and dates. This means I can get on top of any problems, as we've had a guy spamming pms in the last week or few. The feature to report your pm was fairly well hidden; just now I've changed the code so that it uses the same button 'Report' as you see to report a problematic post in a topic in the forum. Photo below shows what I mean. P.S. Hope fifer doesnt mind me showing you that he once pm'd me ;D

Highlight the text you want to change colour, bold, center, etc. and then click the bold, colour, etc button. It will then put the correct tags around that piece of text for you. Eg: Bold is: Bold

Copy and paste, as in just normal text into the message box?

Go to the topic where you would like to reply to with photo(s). Otherwise click the 'New Topic' button - it will give you the same options as below. Click the 'Reply' button (top and bottom of the page) - not necissary for new topics. http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/tutorial/attach1.jpg Use the 'Attach File(s)' section. Click the browse button. A window will popup displaying some of the files on your computer. Navigate in this window into the folder where the photo you wish to upload is found. Double click on the photo. The popup window will have gone now, and some text will be in the box next to the broswe button. Click the 'Attach (and add more)' button. Your photo will now be uploaded to the website - this may take a few minutes depending on the size of the photo and the speed of your internet connection. Repeat this step if you require to add more photos. http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/tutorial/attach2.jpg Your reply page should look something like this now. Red arrow points to a photo uploaded to the page. Finish typing your message in the post box and click the 'Post' button. http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/tutorial/attach3.jpg You will be redirected to the topic that you have just replied to (or created - new topic), if you scroll down the page you will find your post with your uploaded photo. http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/tutorial/attach4.jpg If you have uploaded a large photo, it will be resized for this page, to see the full size photo, click on the photo itself and it will take you to a new page displaying only that photo in its original size.

2006 - Race 6 - Melton Mowbray 2nd September
Webmaster replied to Loft Manager's topic in Fantasy Pigeons
Hi, Since the race I've moved house, hopped borders and done an exam. With the race put back to Sunday it didnt leave me any time to update the competition (travelled up to Scotland after the race), I've just fixed the internet connection on the new house, and updating is my next job. Well after a brew maybe ;D Richard -
Hi, In the latest upgrade the forum software now has the feature of resizing your photo when you upload it. The upload restriction is now much bigger, but there still is one because it will stop huge files slowing up your computer when you upload them. So as long as the photo is under 768kb (which most should) it will now upload it and resize for viewing on the forum. The attach photo to post feature is only on the reply page. [i.e. scroll to the very last (or the very first) post on a page and just below (above if first) the post is 4 pictures/buttons; 'reply, notify, reccomend, print'. Click the 'Reply' button to go to the reply page. Richard

OK I've done the upgrade. I wont go into details of the new features yet (its late). There is one thing off the top of my head that may cause problems. You MUST login using your SCREEN NAME, not your USERNAME from now on. Your screen name is the same displayed by the side of your posts. This may differ from your previous username, for example my username was 'admin', but my screen name 'Webmaster'. I now can only login using 'Webmaster'. As usual if there are any other problems, post them up or email me, the usual place Richard

I've been informed that the sale is now (date change): SUNDAY October 22nd at Shotton with Haswell Plough Auctions

Had an email the other day from 'Diamond Dave' suggesting the Lost Birds board be changed round a bit. Brill idea; now it is Lost & Found Birds sub forum, with Lost Birds and Found Birds boards. Next few days/week we've got an upgrade to the forum software to comprehend. I'll do this in the wee small hours so that most people are not effected. The new upgrade will give us some new stuff, and some old stuff done better; however with anything changing there may be a few teething problems; if you get any problems please email me webmaster@pigeonbasics.com as soon as possible, then I can get it fixed also as soon as possible. Richard
