  1. Members passwords are firstly encrypted and then stored on the web server in the forum database. I dont have access to anyones password, and that is why if you lose your password I only have the function to reset it (automatically a random password is created and sent to the member). The details I know are, your username (so does everyone), your email address (not accessible to public or members for your security/anti-spam). The only other details that I, or anyone else could have, would be from what you post on the website (or via PM to that member), or what additional information you post in your profile. The forum details are stored in the forums database; this is located on the webserver (accessible only through these pages and members login), but also I take a backup every so often, in case anything bad happens
  2. Hi, I've had this suggested to me a couple of times in the past year so I'd like to bring the truth to everyones attention. The ONLY person who can read your Personal Messages (that is messages sent to you) is YOU Other members, moderators, even I (see below), do not have access to any other members PM messages other than their own. With one Proviso: I (and only I the webmaster) could -- if a situation existed that was serious enough to warrent me to do so -- through some quite time consuming and awkward ways get access to a members PM messages. I cannot stress enough that this is only possible, and would only be done in the most extreme of cases; and as such is why I have stated it here. If there are any more questions, rumours or anything else anyone would like to ask, just let me know, or post it here. Richard

    STARS

Everyone in a group, should have some stars back now. 5 Blue ones
  4. 'Fun' in this case would mean offence to many. Religion isnt something we're going to joke about on Pigeonbasics.

  6. I'm unsure as to how this argument has come about. We are waiting on payment to get through the postal system; until it does, there is no more anyone can do. As soon as I receive it I'll let both Andrew and Sean know, and then it can go from there to arrange Amtrak etc. There is neither the need to get on Sean or Andrews back.
  7. My input on the situation is that I havent received payment yet.
  8. Its on the General Board, stickied so it will stay at the top of the page
  9. If your using Windows, make sure your computer has; Anti-Spyware, Anti-Virus, Firewall. Free Anti-Virus: AVG http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5 Free Firewall: ZoneAlarm http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en Free Anti-Spyware: Windows Defender (formarly Microsoft Anti-Spyware) http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx This may be already on your system, as it is now a Windows XP Automatic Update. It goes without saying but make sure that you update the above software at least weekly. (Each program gives you a way of updating to the latest protection when you have the program open; AVG - 'Update', ZoneAlarm - should issue a pop-up box when there is a new version), Windows Defender should be updated automatically by your Windows XP 'Automatic Update'. Also make sure you download and install all of the Windows XP updates (which are delivered through Automatic Update, or http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ ) If you are using Internet Explorer as your web browser; it might be a wise decision to download and use Mozilla Firefox (button at bottom of the page). This is because many of the Windows Security problems have been because of vulnerabilities found and exploited by hackers in the Internet Explorer web browser. P.S. If you download Firefox by clicking the button at the bottom of this page 'Get Firefox with Google Toolbar', you will be donating $1 to Pigeonbasics.com :)
  10. Will post details for entries and also the classes in due course.
  11. I think it just got lost in the mass of other topics (saw it earlier on on about page 3 or 4). The shows will start again soon; how are everyone's birds in the moult just now? How about first show starting Fri 1st Dec, and then running weekly? There were 6 classes + Grand Final last year, which would take us to the Blackpool weekend.
  12. I've had only one entry, was going to give it one last push this week-ish, just havent had a minute. Superstar; would you be able to email me with some of the details outlined in this topic: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1158055958/ Thanks

    goldstars ???

Yup; its a bug with the new update Anyone who is in a group, Sprint Specialist, Distance Fanatic, etc, for whatever reason, their stars arnt showing. Will get a fix one of these days ;D ;D
  15. Congratulations on your big day ;D
  16. Yep, month - date - year.
  17. If you haven't noticed already, the other night I updated the forum to the latest version of the software. The changes are mostly cosmetic (see the quick reply box, and also the poll and reply pages), and bug fixes. There has been a change to one of the subsidiary files which are used alongside each page and perform functions such as inserting the code when you click on one of the smilies. Your computer will have stored these files in what is called a cache, which just means that it does not have to download them every time you load a new page (faster). However because of this if you still have the old cached files, functions, like the smilies insertion, will not be working. To download the new files to your cache, press the 'F5' key (Internet Explorer/Firefox) when you are viewing any of the forum pages, otherwise you can choose the 'Refresh'/'Reload' option from the menu. You will only need to do this once.
  18. Have you tried the above? You can also refresh/reload the page by clicking the right mouse button and selecting the option. There will be also the reload option under one of the menu's at the top, on my browser its under 'View'.
  19. Press the F5 key on your keyboard while looking at one of the forum pages. This will reload all of the files used on the forum and update the cache on your machine. The reason this happened is that there is a small change in one of the subsidiary files used on the forum, when I updated it to the latest version the other day. However your computer will store a copy of these files to make your browsing quicker (old version - hence it wont work) - you just need to update these
  20. Think this problem should be solved as of this morning. Let me know otherwise

    Burnt down

Firstly can I express my commiserations to the Barkel family in what must be a devastating time for them. We seem to be reading about arson attacks on pigeon lofts more and more often; this year has certainly been the worst that I've ever known. Last year we had the Pigeonbasics Auction at the end of January; 50% of the money going to British Fanciers Medical Research. May I throw the idea to our membership that in our auction this year that we setup a fund for these unfortunate fanciers who this devastating event happens to. I would be more than happy to run the fund; of course verifying that monies were spent on getting these fanciers established again in the sport. And if we have a surplus at the end of the year, that amount could go to the Medical Research, or other pigeon fancy related cause. Only an idea; let me know what you think Richard

  24. Clocks changed the other night, only just remembered ;D so probably alot of peoples forum time is out of sync. Look up near the top of the page, on the right, date and time. To change the clock follow the following nice and easy instructions - go to the 'Members Centre' - in the menu on the left click 'Time Settings' - either tick or untick the 'Daylight Savings Time?' check box and press 'Save' Job done
