  1. Also collected Check HEN SU 14 545,// From club member tonight ets rung and rubbered. Will be lib at the dog show Edinburgh (hope it returns)

Have collected five SU.yearlings from local lads here which I will be bringing up to Edinburgh in the morning rings SU 17 L 11534.// SU 17 AV 745.//SU 17 M 974.//SU 17 E 791 SU 17 L 5622.Some were really flown out on arrival here so were held till in good condition to return on the first opportunity I had coming this way. I hope they get home safe.
  3. I have given the hens a short 5 mile spin to the locked up cocks in the boxes on a friday before basketing them for the race early season when I was a lot keener in my younger days with good results.
  4. I always think if it`s too cold to sit in the shed to wait for them it`s too cold to train.

Mine do 15 mins at most (cocks) out once a day but up and down for a couple of hours open hole.fed in midday.Won 2 firsts 2 secs.and a 3 rd.(3 races this year).Hens going a lot better at home, will see the first race for them this coming weekend. Cocks only ever see hens on return from a race.Hens trap to own loft all week and cock loft race days.(Lofts are side by side)

  11. Worked THREE SHIFTS never found it a problem, only when afternoons getting birds to marking on Friday evening. Then basket`ed them Fri mid-day and slipped them to club in my break.Birds still flew well.

  17. The festive meal in the Eastern block is normally based around Fish- (Carp) Swans- Turkeys etc. I would think are pretty safe. Ducks might have a short life span though.
  18. Just beware in couple of years you might find it`s fall on your shed.Just get it lopped to suitable size and save future problems.
  19. Bitter cold in Shropshire and young wood pigeon drinking out of the birds bath. Unbelievable this time of year.

  22. I myself am contemplating doing the same,or breeding as late as possible and just sending to a couple of drop back races at most.
  23. Over the years had a few problems with Y.B.S. But can honestly say most years have reared a few late breds (june /july hatched) out of stock birds, (Generally hatched by mistake)put them in a section on there own given them an open hole when ever possible and let them get on with it.Never a problem burn the skies out, picture of health and are trained as normal following season with the oldens. A couple over the years have been my most consistent 2/3 year olds.
