i feed mine all they want for an hour a day(3pm) and on friday morning i leave the hopper down till 11am.I also lock my youngbirds out till feeding time. many roads lead to rome as they say you have to find what suits you and your birds.

I'm not knocking anyone for sending birds and getting the weather wrong i was just highlighting that sometimes even the best get it wrong. I'm a bit gutted myself ive lost my best hen this was meant to be her last race before going to stock.A race to far as they say

Just been asked by a friend if i know any times for middlewich two bird so i said i will ask on here for him. so if anyone knows of any times can you let me know please thanks alot
-
Funny you all knew the weather forcast and still sent the birds. I myself am still two down from the channel 400 miler and inland had a full lockup after 20min's from first to last ,the fact that i was behind was irrelevant lol. I personally think it was just one of them days and my first two channel birds came through all that thunder and lightning within a minute of each other from different directions father and son lol.

lets hope its all clearing for tomorrow

well they let me race my birds thats a big Plus for me. I do believe that charity begins at home and maybe the money we give to charity's may be of more good spent on our own problems like a decent PR company maybe or investing in the future.Still everyone cant be pleased and on the length of it i am quite happy with what they do for the money i pay.I have nothing against charities by the way there are some very needy cause's out there but if we are not here in ten years how can we give to any cause's.

1.. scored very well over the water only bird on the night from niort as yearling 10th middlewich two bird open as a yearling 4th club from lessay 1st club 4th fed from fourgeres plus a few other minor club cards inland. 2.took two youngsters last year hen had her first race yesterday but way behind 122miler in prep for next week .His son topped the club by 10 mins on a really hardrace (his dad was right behind him) when his dad took 4th lessay he was there first but wouldnt trap.he also took 7th middlewich two bird open as a youngster 3 lost both his parents when i moved house and someone let all my birds out. 4 nothing doing as well over the water but inland ive a couple of good cocks. i only have a team of 7 cocks and 12 hens it started of as 9 cocks but lost two . i am thinking of laying him of after next week but depends how he comes i suppose
-
my best cock scored again last week from 349 mile but i was really hoping to get him to 500 mile again this year but he is moulting his primarys and currently on his 3rd when should i lay him off from racing in regards to the moult he is only a 2year old and to be hohnest is to good to be thrown away through my inexperience so any advice is greatly appreciated.

sounds like your feeding to much of a night.after there evening feed make sure any left is removed from the loft so birds cant eat as they please.Ration their corn then split the rations into two one half in morning after they come in one half in evening after they come in.Like has been said before dont feed the birds or let them out for 24hours then start this.

i do what PJC said .Use a loft book to record who went with who and any other notes of interest through the year then afterthe season is over i transfer it all to computer. but last year i lost my book and the pc harddrive was wiped so i had to revert to scraps of paper that i had written things on or memory luckily my team only go back 2 generations before that its either paperwork that come with bird or left blank .I might try one of the new loft manager software app's this year i have an old one but didnt really like it much
-
Keep us updated Lindsay .Hope they all come the ones that do will learn a lot from it hopefully

Yes take the offer of the shed after racing and in the meen time ask if you can pop over and help with the birds and watch them come back from racing it will be a good taster to see if its what u really want.
-
i use 2 cap full's per 2 litre drinker most days unless i am giving garlic fridays and sundays is allways fresh water
-
still 3 missing from 8 including a good two year old gonna be hard to last the season now but stranger things have happened.
-
i would love to try this but i would need another shed as i wouldnt risk emnear my race team
-
real hard race this week.3 back from 8 but looks like i won the club. 340 mile from forgeres.Same cock who won niort last year was my first two cards in last two race's so looks like the channel is his forte.
