Ok i had this problem last year my first year in pigeons .Turned out that as soon as my back was turned cats where unsettling the birds .I came home early from work on nights and there was a couple of cats on the shed roof and one in front of the shed trying to get into it.May pay you to stay up late one night with lights out and peek at the shed without being seen to see if there are any predators disturbing the birds.

Thanks . If i clock a bird do i have to clock the wing stamp? someone at the club said thats how they did it years ago but i was on the understanding you just clocked the race rubber then rang up within one hour with the wing stamp and Ring number of the bird.

I was led to believe that all the best fliers in Belgium and the netherlands use the eyesign for breeding .You can also tell the pigeons general condition by the eye.

Ok sorry to be so ignorant on this subject but how will it affect the birds if it is Gm food?

Basket training my youngsters on the garden this week.Well they are all sat there nice and calm waiting to be let out when up pops a little check sticks his head through the hole in the door on the top and proceeds to pull it open and let himself out.then just sat on the basket as if proving a point to all the other birds.I had one last year that used to jump and knock the sputnick landing board with its head so it went down then jump through the sputnick trap hole without opening its wing's. They never cease to amaze me these youngsters.

Roland you got anymore details on that system?Ive been searching on google with no luck on how it works .A lot of people are saying how good it is and you have to lock the birds down for two month's .I like the idea of training early any info would be appreciated mate .

Mine are coming off today 6 weeks before the first young bird race. The have gone through the full body molt and look good.I will give them 3 days locked in the shed then the rest of the week on open hole basket training through the evening and next week basket training from the garden then that leaves me 4 weeks to start on the road work starting at 5 mile working to 40.

Pigeons need the grit to grind down the grains .If your not feeding it Timbarra then they are getting it from somewhere else .Its not for calcium like you stated its for grinding the food down in the gizzard .I would love to see where you get your Factual evidence from.As for overfeeding Chickadee sorry i cant help you on that .Like has been mentioned i give mine matrix after feeding. My youngsters get fresh grit every other day and dont seem to overeat it.

Says it all for me. 99% of us need to look in the mirror to find the biggest fault with our birds. I would like to see league tables of flyers for different area's something official not just a gimmick to sell birds. cant see how it would be set up though .And would be really hard finishing last in the Fed league

The natural system as i understand it is having cocks and hens in same loft paired together they then race back to there home. The fancier has to find various ways to motivate either the cock or hen or both for each race they are entered in.This could be from when first paired to chasing for egg's.Chip outs sitting youngsters at various stage's and so on.From what ive seen Natural is the most time consuming of all the so called racing systems due to the training needed but the biggest plus is it learns you to understand your pigeons a lot better and you can really get to know your pigeons. Also just because there in the natural loft dosnt mean they have to be paired. Its all about finding whats best for each bird making them content then getting them to race home. It also has peak's and troughs to form and fitness witch other systems dont seem to suffer as much.I am flying natural this year as its my first Old bird season and its not as easy as it sounds but as i am learning i think i have benifitted from all the mistakes ive made. And the most annoying thing i have found is nothing is as natural as it seems on the natural system
