I think its a culture thing ,a bit like three exclamation mark's and three full stops.
-
well done Andy mate.Did you get the last one back?
-
Mine are all paired by the pedigree .being my first season of breeding my own i only had stock birds and a few racers that raced the last youngbird season. ive tried to keep family's together so i can start my own inbred family but until i can get a good old bird team i feel i am pairing blind.I reckon it will take me another 3 years to see the results of this years pairing's.I keep all records of what went with what so next year i can inbreed the family. Going on the young birds upto now it looks like i may have lost my best pair of breeders during the old bird season.

One last one for you. This youngster i have singled out as one of the best in the loft. Not sure why it just feel's right and look's the part. Its bred of a pair i bought from Boscheind flyer's. again tell me what you think.
-
Ok guy's here's the eye's of the four youngster's from above. The first two are the first round the second two from the second round. Again let me know what you think. I wish i had better pictures so we could compare the markings of the parents and then of the children. Thanks guy's
-
I will get some pics of the youngsters and there eye's today hopefully get them on tonight if work dont want me to earn my wage's .
-
Thanks guy's.I paired them this year and took 4 youngsters of them ive still got all four. They are both Braspenning's bought in from different source's.The cock in picture one is an absolute beut of a bird but was bought just for stock and i raced the hen eye number two out to Alencon in the national i got nowhere but that was down to me not the bird.On paper they look like they should breed the good's but time will tell.Incidently the hen was either the first or second bird back in every young bird race for me last year iand she is the last out of a kit of twelve i bought from Louella .
-
sorry about the pics its the best i could do with the camera.Probably need better pic's to rate them properly.
-
How would you please rate these eye's out of ten and would you or not pair them together. It's just for fun guy's so lets not all get argumentative and stuff.
-
I had mine at 40 mile's before the first race over a three week period working in 4 stage's 8 mile 15 mile 25 mile and then the 40 mile's.I agree with the breaking at the 12-15 mile stage and racing for home but my theory is if i can get the to 40 mile's along the race track then they should be set for when they get blown of the race track. My first race was 90 mile's and i had 8 on the roof 2 min's before the winner in the club .Just wish i'd worked on trapping as much as road work.Race's are won and lost in the shed as they say .
-
I think after the initial layout.Ie: shed clock birds. Its then down to the fancier a resourceful fancier dont need fancy corns and stuff. You do need a regular outlay for corn and race fee's but that go's without saying. But a kit of 6 from Louella could see a good fancier well on there way.Tonics can be found round the home if needed(milk and honey for instance). It may taker longer with limited funds to build and maintain a good team but certainly not out of reach.

Good luck Vic mate.I did it last week i got every ten day forcast i could and most said this weekend was bad so i sent em all last week.Got 25 outa 26 home. Kept em in the loft this weekend. But that would of been the case what ever the weather due to illness.
-
Fingers crossed mate.
-
Sorry to hear it mate.Hope it dry's out soon and the birds are ok
-
England should have a good race tomorrow all the rain is going to scotland .

I think what will eventually happen is someone will sue defra for human rights issue's after they get fed up waiting for the rpra to do something. Then the Rpra will jump on the band wagon and sue defra themselves(providing the first case wins)Then spout some nonsense about allway's wanting to take this course of action.I think its a shame the way we British people let everyone walk all over us.The french may be many thing's but at least the common people stick together when needed.

Well done Jason your doing a good job.
-
If they are old enough.Split them up for a week or so then repair them.

Update guy's . The two youngsters i quarantined are looking ok this morning but a few of my other birds have been sick through the night but are looking good and driving and pairing fine. The dropping are solid still and apart from the few grain's lying on the perch's you would say nothing is wrong .I wormed them about an hour after i fed them last night, and am starting to think this may be the cause of the vomiting or maybe i'm hoping and clutching at straw's.I will let you know the outcome either way.
-
Thanks guy's.I'd allready taken the water out and added fresh with cider vinegar ive allready cut the food down yesterday and today due to bad trapping i'm starting to wonder if it could be drinking from the gutter. Both the birds in quarantine dont look bad now and at first glance you would say they were in great condition.I just hope ive over reacted and all is well.I will give the vet a ring in the morning .I dont know anything about youngbird sickness other than what ive read here. What are the symptom's?.Could cocci be a cause of the symptoms i said above?Maybe stress. I will keep ya posted anyway thanks for the advice guy's

Thanks Sammy.

Noticed a youngster today was looking a bit poorly.Sat on the roof all huddled up feeling sorry for himself when the rest where all getting a bath and driving round the garden. When i got them in i noticed he didnt eat any food so i have quarantined him.Just checked on him and noticed he still hasnt eaten but has vomited some small seed and the water with is like all dirty.I went into the main loft and noticed another youngster being sick so i immediately quarantined him as well. The thing is they all look the picture of health white wattles solid stools with a nice white tip.The feathering is good and apart from the first bird sitting all puffed up before he came in i cant see anything the matter with them.Any idea's?

Funny you should say my uncle said exactly the same thing when he asked what the stock birds i bought where but he did say if you can keep them they are usually good birds its the keeping them thats the problem.
