I'm still new to Pigeon racing Vic so still have an open mind .After asking fanciers around here they all agree sennen cove is a really difficult racepoint for some reason or another. One of my Uncles birds was reported last night in northern island from the same race.the bird had previously won the sandbach open and been to niort twice as well as winning numerous cards at club and fed level from the channel and inland. So something seems to have really upset the bird's could just be raptors going through the batch or maybe something a little more .

Vic everyone is entitled to there veiw but could you please explain the heavy losse's fron Sennen cove yesterday please? It may not of happened to everyone but people round here have been wiped out.I'm talking about Fanciers sending 30 birds and getting one or two some havnt had that. I must agree with you on the youngbirds though first race of the season and got 25 outa 26 the majority in good time. After talking to fanciers locally i can only put down the heavy losse's to either bilco's k factor theory or maybe a few birds went acroos the bristol channel and some took the dog leg one batch mustve hit bad weather
  5. Had mine yesterday(14/7/07) i sent 26 got 25 (last one in was at 6am this morning)back all in good time apart from trapping i am really pleased.Cheltenham 90 miles to me
  6. Thanks guy's .I think its gonna be a case of leaving the sputnik open with some feed in the loft like has been said.

Youngbirds was a great return at our club. But old birds is a different story been plenty wiped out from Sennen cove around winsford.Jones brothers are the only ones to clock in the middlewich two bird from winsford as far as i know.People at the club are shocked at the old bird losse's from sennen cove heard one guy sent 30 and got 2 back and its the same all around here.
  8. Anyone have any advice how to make young birds trap better. Youve probably heard it all before.I had 8 youngsters sat on the roof at 12:46 after flying round the house for at least 2 mins i finally clocked one at 12:54 .Down at the club it looks like the winner is in for 12:48 (i have to give him about 1 min 30 over fly). I know it was only the first young bird race and it dosnt mean to much but i am still a bit peeved at the way they trapped (especially as it wouldve been my first card). On training i dont have any one at home to trap the birds for me so they wait till i get home and then i let them all in at 15:00 when they all get fed together. At feeding time they allways trap well but i think this is due to them being on a fixed time and are used to coming in at that time.On the friday i had them all fed for 12 o clock so they shouldve been quite hungry. Maybe it was the shock of the first race .Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah i fly to a sputnick . Thanks in advance
  9. This saturday
  10. I think it would lower the ph level of the pigeon thus making it harder for certain germs and stuff to get a hold.Like vinegar makes the pigeons inners more acidic Gaviscon would make it more alkaline its a balancing issue what is the perfect ph level for a pigeon to combat most germs and bacteria? If its good against youngbird sickness then Youngbird sickness must be caused by upset ph levels which is letting germs and bacteria get a hold.Make the living conditions unbearable and most things will move out including good bacteria as well as bad.
  11. Just outside Nantwich and crewe its horrible .Rain and grey clouds no wind though
  12. Two weeks till first race. Young birds are on 30 miles lost 5 of my team since weaning. And got one hawked today but not to bad luckily. On holiday next week so there in the shed for seven full days got someone to feed and water but cant get training:( .Apart from the holiday all is going to plan i will change the feed to twice a day the week before the first race along with the training.
  13. Nice one mate . Well done
  14. Sorry to everyone who lost birds hopefully they will make there way back. But surely the main responsibility lies with the fancier if they know the weather is going to be bad why send the birds Surely you cant send hoping for a holdover of three or four day's .
  15. The two main thing's that are needed to attract new fanciers. 1 .Advertising .Lots of people often say to me how do them birds come back dont they just fly away?People are Ignorant towards pigeons i even had a guy knock on the door asking about keeping birds when i said are they to race or just as pets to fly round the house he looked gobsmacked"what you can race them" was his reply. So my opinion is first and foremost get some sort of advertising and lets get pigeon racing in the public eye for the right reasons. 2. ATTITUDE . Pigeon fanciers in the main (this is my opinion being new to the sport and only having birds 12 month's) are just plain nasty people who are scared of competition and bad loser's.I heard the secretary saying how he only clocked three birds to let the new guy's have a chance in our club last week he was tellin this in another club. What he failed to tell the other club members was how he wasnt even in the top 5 place's and the new guy's didnt fly cos i was flying the national and the other two guy's only have youngsters.Another example and if the fancier is reading this will know who he is. when marking at the national for alencon some guy behind me comented on a bird in front of me (a red grizzle it looked like) i said yeah my kids would love that.Well the guy threw a temper tantrum saying how good this bird is and how it wont be beaten by the sh** in my basket and so one.I just laughed at him and told him to put his dummy back in.These are a few examples and not meant as a rant just to highlight the main problems i see for the future. I am certainly starting to think if it was the right hobby for me.Just because of the miserable gits who seem to be attached with the sport. This is my opinion and there are exceptions to the rule certain people on this site for instance are real gem's and some of the most generous people i have met in the sport are also on here.(also heard of some real assholes on here as well)
  16. Ok thanks Davey
  17. Thanks Tony.Yeah i got one part of it. Do i do anything with it or is it for my records? not sure wether its top or bottom as i had to send the wife in with the clock and she came back with clock and clock envelope.
