  1. The thing is there's no gaurantee's so you pay your money and take your chance . I think it all boils down to how much of a gambler the individual is. Unless your buying a pedigree to sell off, then its another story all together.
  2. Great Result chrissy well done.
  3. I think people are getting yellow and lemons mixed up.
  4. Thankyou Like i said a wealth of information Now who wants to sell me a lemon hen. Beutyhomer thanks again i really do appreciate the information.
  5. Beutyhomer you are a wealth of information Now what colours would i need to breed myself a pair? i have a nice blue cock who looks more like a silver maybe him with a pale blue hen?
  6. Thanks i will have a look.
  7. Thanks aot guy's. Wayne go have a look at Jacks site its a real good site for info as well as his quality birds. http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/jackbarkel/
  8. After just looking on Jack Barkels site .The missus seen his lemon pigeons and now wants some does anyone know where i can get some in the UK at decent a decent price.
  9. No mate i am gonna concentrate on the club and a couple of national race's next year.Hopefully take it lightly and build a solid team for 2009.
  10. Roland no disrespect was meant mate i actually value your input and advice on this forum. Ets just gets my back up thats all and i think there is alot of other factors that need to be addressed before ets ,in pigeon racing such as like you have just stated loft position.I think the real problem with ETS is not the system its the way the system was brought in.
  11. Roland i just cant see where you get your figures from fifteen seconds and five seconds? You cannot add time on to any member because of his clocking device. As stated before do people who use stall traps and the like get penalised? What about people who clock birds on the garden before they even go in the shed do they get a penalty?A good widowwood should trap straight to his box if you use open door .Now if the clock is in the loft (or on your person)how does it take 15 seconds to walk in the loft and clock it? I think Sapper has his the nail on the head its the pigeon men that are the nail in the coffin not ets. Ets is here and i cant see the rpra holding there hands up and saying sorry lets have a vote on it and see if the members do want it. I can see the ruling getting changed and the willing statement being removed. As for the attitude of well i will retire from the sport if it comes in ,I think these people are allready disgruntled with the sport and just want an exscuse to retire.
  12. yes mate i clocked my first at 13:43 i think it was didnt get the second till the next day .I just like to see who was up there to get a good idea of the best fliers around here.
  13. Nice one thanks Eagleowl its much appreciated
  14. Nice one mate I was on holiday last week thats why i never seen it. Dont spose you could pm me the first 5 people could ya? No worries if ya cant.
  15. does anyone know the results of the middlewich two bird open .from east prawle on september 15th. The club results are in the BHW this week but not the open.
  16. C'mon now anyone taking bets how long before another racing loft is set up? It will start with something like"why dont you get a single pair to race son see if you like it?" Then a full blown patnership goodbye to the show birds or the missus will take them over and you and your boy will be racing . The best of luck whatever you choose mate but when its in the blood its there for life
  17. could it just be something as simple as pruning itself?
  18. I think its more the system than the bird nowaday's. Theres a hell of a lot of good birds about . A good system(fancier) will make an average bird win but give that same fancier a good bird and see how pigeon legends are made. being a relatively new starter myself if i could turn back time i think i would look up a good fancier and see if i could spend a season as his pupil. Your never to old to learn. But if i had to buy birds i would try and get a round of latebreds from frank tasker or geoff kirkland they seem to have been around a long time at the top. I would also ask there methods as well
  19. i found out last year that the first round of youngbirds was a lot better than the second overall.I will only be taking one round this year due to having no more stock birds
  20. Ive wondered why they didnt do this since i started last year. Or a two week break in the middle. But i deffo think we could race till the end of september its warmer out now than it was in april.

    video

seems to sum up a race week in 7 and a half min's
  22. If i keep my widowood hens(not racers just for the cocks) in with the youngbirds will they pair up to the young cock's? My problem is space ive got two lofts one for the youngbirds and one for the widowood cocks ,Just wondering if there is a way i can get away with not building another shed .
  23. Lol i hope thats not gonna happen to me Roland ive got four young birds that raced the whole programme all of the same dam and sire and every race one of them was the first bird back and would not trap. I lost the parents when i moved house and they are the only four i bred of them. Incidently the last race one of them took a fed card after refusing to trap for a good five min's.
  24. Looks like a cock to me. One method i was told and use(just this morning as i had the same problem). While holding the bird in one hand and gently pull its head out by the beak if it struggles its usually a cock a hen usually lets you keep its neck extended a few min's. Try it and see
