I don't think you'll starve percy by not flying youngsters, they are that good at what they do they will always find a meal, We are the odd-balls, we have flocks of birds flying out at this time of the year, it doesn't happen in nature only in the Winter months, easy pickings for them and what do we do, breed greater numbers, just perfect for them, reduce the numbers by half of youngsters and we'll still have some left at the end of the year but our losses will be reduced

They feed themselves so they are easy to rear, chick crumbs or you can start with crumbled biscuit, It will need feeding by now, normally they need some heat but indoors in a box should be fine this weather and water of course

Remember as with most British birds, not being on the protected list doesn't make it legal to kill them

People who race un-transferred birds are as bad as those that race strays, if lost it's the registered keeper who gets the card and is obliged to do something about it, and of course as Redcheq says, it's breaking the rules
