  1. You know what the Irish lads are like Alan, when Tam said beaches they were looking for a row of trees
  2. Drogba, built like a boxer goes down like a fairy
  3. That is usually the best way to break pigeons but in your case no point in taking chances if it's the youngsters you want for racing, I don't know anyone with spare youngsters, most are rearing their own for racing, you might be lucky when a few more read your thread, might be an idea to say where you are located, All the best
  4. Why are you letting them out?, if you want to breed off them keep them shut in until you have bred the youngsters you want
  5. Bit like Politicians prone to exaggeration

    Tooshy Boy.

    Goodnight Toosh
  7. I've got magpies right next to the house in a fir tree, I don't know how long they live but they've used the same nest for 26 years, never been a problem with the pigeons, when I take eggs away I put them out for them, saves them pinching other eggs , This year I have got 9 pairs of Jackdaws nesting in the buildings, I've always had some but this is the most I've ever had, It'll be noisy when the young hatch
  8. Yes that's right,I don't know if anyone has seen this, every year about Dec./Jan. in a big ash tree at the top of my first field nearest the house 20 to 30 magpies gather, there's no fighting but a lot of activity, goes on for about an hour and then they are gone, I wonder if they are choosing mates or territories or both as they are quite intelligent
  9. Yes the Carrion Crows don't like company only their mate
  10. A bit warmer down South, I'm expecting to see a swallow any day now
  11. I think so George, decent food, clean water grit and minerals plus good birds, job done
  12. They would not be Carrion Crows, they are solitary birds and not nest in colonies, only crows to do that would be Jackdaws or Rooks
  13. Hope you've had a good one Brian
  14. Well done The Young Lions, three away wins in a six nations, can't be bad, I agree with Roland, I thought the Ref. was a bit iffy, What was that sin-bin all about?
  15. I Think history has proven that top players rarely make top managers, looking at the premiership most managers were pretty average players
  16. Thanks for that post, I thought I'd lost the plot previously
  17. You take care Andy, No dancing and no drinking, there's always next week

  22. Sorry mate, you should've bought them a return ticket
  23. Congrat's Mr&Mrs Tooshy, We clocked up 50yrs. last month
  24. Nothing new there then
  25. Well lads here's my view on the subject, I've done a 25yr. unintentional experiment on predation, I moved here in 1986 with 40 race birds, once broken they have been on open loft, Brechfa Forest starts a few hundred yards from me it's 6,500 hectares, about 2.4 acres to a hectare, hawk heaven, The open loft mob are still around 50 and I collect eggs all the time. 2010 I bought in new stock, new loft and the youngsters flown as normal race birds, losses on the old mob are low but losses on the birds flown as normal are horrendous in comparison, I certainly would never shut my birds up for several months, they would be so unfit, lambs to the slaughter comes to mind
