The prob for complete natural flying when looking for the water races is the wing moult for me. This is just my opinion cos loads of fanciers, including members of my own family, race natural all year!!! Hoddom Dynamo won the nat when way into the moult(maybe just exceptional) but the moult is deffo easier controlled without the nest!!! We do use Hemp alot when nearer the time!!
If we have rain it means that we keep the doors shut on the front of the loft instead of the wire fronts which are on all the time thru the day if there is no rain or cold wind. When we have poor weather for a few consecutive days the doors are shut, the temp inside goes up and we notice quite a diffo in body feather and flights! Thats what I mean by weather Del. Me and the old boy were just discussing this very thing tonight! spooky lol obviously the wooden doors cut the light aswell
Got to agree, with them numbers I bet the ones off yer best are the ones that go all the way! I have tried to nurse yearlings along, giving them maybe 250 as yearlings then trying to get to the water as 2yr old, and my success rate is low!

LOl.Ye i suppose but its alot of birds and a lot of work on the hope of a small window? I suppose they could have got away and had a great race??? Who would be a controller???NO ME!!!
