The information that I have been given was that out and out sprint pigeons wouldn't complete the course we race as advised by NRCC stalwarts. Whether that was because they race our course as distance races or because of the terrain, I do not know. I personally use these races as trainers for myself and now continue so to do as trainers for my untrained and unraced yearlings and latebreds. I have started racing with my south club also. I think from a commercial point of view, if only sprint panellists were invited, primarily only north road fanciers would attend, so distance panellists have a greater draw, thus improving the possible financial benefits for the Federation. Regarding attendance at Ayrshire's night, I am afraid I am unable to answer that one. I did notice on Ayrshire website / FB site that some criticism of the venue being too far north and requests for rotation. Apparently the south members didn't turn out as well as was expected. ANRF is primarily south Ayrshire based, so this could be a possible answer. My only experience of these nights are the last Cumnock night attended primarily by Fed members, not many from the north of Ayrshire and the last ANRF night where there was probably an even split between ANRF members and visitors from Ayrshire, Glasgow and Lanarkshire.
