  13. Best tip is keep them on the hungry side . I've noticed last two weeks two hawks doing the rounds one is small and very dark undersides? Seen it being chased by a seagull this morning . My birds been out all winter and I could turn my back when they are flying and turn around and 19 are in and eating . They are well aware of the danger from above. But Iam more than convinced dogs in my garden and dog next doors keep it from attacking.Cats however are a problem I can't get the back of them!!!

Everyone was on open loft all winter. It's safe to say the doos read the wild birds signals.both sides when out exercising. They will come down onto the roof only to take off again seconds later. Maybe 2 or 3 times until they are sure. If out all winter they stay sharp when out that's for sure . Did you fined the doo the hawk took ?

Aye I would agree some what with you. I've had 2 or 3 in loft past years during April. With air strike injuries! No trouble today thankfully. Both sides in bath too 👠I notice a lot of bloom coming off them when they first leave the loft for exercise.

Had my hens out around 2:30 in afternoon. Hawk has tried a few times today. While they were very warry to land. Came through the gap in hoose across the road at a helliva rate of knots. Fortunately half dozen craws were hard behind it . Can never figure out when to let them out ? It's always on the lookout !! $wine . February has always been a bad time for me.It's heartbreaking to loose one from around the loft .

  22. It's disappointing to hear their first arrivals accompanied with sounds of gunfire !! Humans need to think of the wider picture. Surely its time to leave them in peace .
  23. They are amazing birds . To migrate from the north latitudes in the hours of darkness. September some years October others depending on the onset of winter in northern hemisphere. They have excellent navigation skills . I've seen them even in complete darkness flying to nature reserve not far from me . Pink footed greylag goose and brent . Are to be seen over winter months in the loch of strathbeg reserve.
