  1. ....its all about finding the right system that suits you and your birds, trial and error. some say feed them this feed them that, i have found what works best for me is giving them as much as they want, food there all day long. it worked for me, doesnt mean it will work for you. like i said have a go at what you think try it if it doesnt work, try something else, and in the end you will hit on something. DONT GIVE UP!! Agree mostley with that, I'd say getting the Birds contented and at ease with their home, surroundings is paramount and number one for me. Then of course a simple system that suits both you (firstly) and then your pigeons. This of course will mean a few will be a fly away - not many, about 2/3 topa of the top of the loft so to spek. Then Health can be attained both mentally and physically to match when arriving in condition and super form. This I believe has to be way before any motivation can be achieved... Which I believe that this is self inducing when the birds attain their peak condition, or simply put Motivation became a part of when in prime health / condition.
  2. Not going there ... my insurance policy has gone through the roof lol

    is it foggy

Yep then they put the Fog Lights on in the Rain Idiots, Saw one done for it the other day, and so he should be. A mate of mine got fined £60, but I can't remember if it carries endorsements. Well Pigeons only took a mite to clean out this morning ... like the marbles that roll into the bucket, but could have played Marbles this morning lol. Still flying, and that's the Cock birds, just over an hour now. Mind has been of late these last few weeks that the birds are having alternative days, they are no sooner landed than up again, and trap just before dark... so other sex out next day.
  5. As long as they aren't too close related I let them choose their own, seem more content and ready that way .. mind will just put 6 of each sex together this season and see what comes from it.
  6. Dring the dark nectar and your see things better lol Have a good time and don't buy any of them 3 legged chickens that you can only open on Xmas day to cook lol
  7. Well al but two ... the same one if let with hardly any water next draoppings a lot better of course ... but still wet. Another late bred went down over night ... treated For cocci as it was really light ... have been Yalkult but still no good. will eliminate to day I guess. The first one - i sent you droppings... well I give up, still looks a picture of healthgreat to handle, white beak etc. but wet droppings, both are seperated from the others. The other loft that I over treat use to have saturated floor, could have mopped it out, but floor dry now, and every da the droppings arelooking a lot better, have now started with a little Yakult on feed each day, but wanted to see an improvement first... is happening big time and are looking realy well. The other two sections are a picture of health. Frank Bristows birds and Chris Balsams are just great ... will cross them and let others bring up the young after sitting 3/4 days... Chris is send me a few pairs too ... will let them stock birds bring up their young two, Will race the 12 youngest off Frank and Chris dry, and let them have a late round to bring up. Time to neck the other two I guess? .. Take care mucker Roly

  16. Quoted from likklegriz AT TIMES ITS FUN BUT MAINLY BORING I'M A NOVICE TRYING TO LEARN AND 9/10 ENJOY THIS SITE I ONLY LOG ON TO SEE WHAT ADVICE IS ON OFFER BUT ALL THERE SEEMS LATELY ON HERE IS ABUSE OF ONE ANOTHER. I THOUGHT WE WERE ALL HERE TO GIVE IDEAS AND IMPROVE THE SPORT NOT BRING IT DOWN ... but likklegriz your're looking in a reading ... can't be that much off putting else you wouldn't tune into that topic, and definately would bother to post. Please don't start the ole cods wallop of what posters will or won't tlook at, let alone what should or shouldn't be posted.... that s what makes life interesting, whether one agrees or not, but just liek the tele, you - like any one else- doesn't have to tune in and look, surely we are all big enough, and in Darren's cas, ugly enough to please our selves what we wish to do, read, or post. Couldn't get into the Bow them up site...

    plastic crates

Well Bruno the water system for yours is as it should be ... shows how many, including us ... lag behind. As for surfaces, wood wins as it will sink in a little first off... plastic it can't. Sure Plastic is easier to clean etc. but by then, over night, hold overs, the damage is done a lot quicker. Plastic leaves it out in the open straight off.

    plastic crates

May well do Tony ... if that is enforced and adhered to. Another little matter I find extradinary is the failure to use water pumps - I.e. like the Fish tnks yes. All water - on ours any way. is a single trough. Surely the time in this day and age is that when filled a plug is took out and a pump used to let it flow dstraight out. Then stopped of course ... and yes most vechiles carry water tanks, which can be easily filed up at any garage. Any water that is contaminated via any pigeon that is a carrier needs to cleared quickly. JMO

    "Blowing 'em up"

Never Mind Vic, they don't like it up them ... I'm talking about the Paper bags you fly of course, and the wind up them! But I personally like to see you stir the pot... good job there's little truth in it - or so it seems, but then you would only know that as it's in your mind. Roland Rat lol

    plastic crates

Al and any Plastic should be shunned as far as I am concerned ... Why, because unlike wood it can't breathe, and anything that comes into contact stays on top, so easy for the spread of any fungal, bacteria etc. etc. to quickly spread. A hold over may be a worry as desiese would quickly become more apparent.

    "Blowing 'em up"

Vic, the last thing I would ever do, let alone want any one else to do is see, or be involved in some one being barred. So that as far as I'm concerned will never happen via me. I personally very seldom ever seen a reason for it. Bad lanquange and insults uncaled for again their family would I hesitain that the posts be took off and the culprit asked to rfrain. So what goes round comes round. I 100% believe that the called for 'Banishment' is like you say, standing on a Tree Hugger or self righteous ones toes. They should choose either to reply, or simply ignore. So welcome mucker, bottle and all. A rat eh ... bit date but still that will do nicely lol.

    "Blowing 'em up"

Well Vic, personally I don't mind your little tantums and belly aching about anything and everything. Like I say everyone to their own. I did hear that you once flew a Kite, only just, but was when you were sober ... so that probably never actually happened lol. And as for Chris and you getting his goat well that would suprise me, him being a realist and all.
  23. Well pretty much what I keep spouting, and at day's end - outside of a PR firm of course - nothing and no one could have done any better. Though of course a few Emails to our local MP’s still wouldn’t hurt or go amiss, would it? If only just to keep them on the ball and a slight pressure in finding a bit in our favour like. - Just a polite note asking what DAFRA intends doing about our sport etc... Seem subject to the scare of Avian Flu not raising it's head I believe racing per norm as stated. But that as far as I am concerned gives the dastardly governing bodies a way out - though like I said that by saying nowt and sitting on their hands they can / will always be able to say 'Well it is as we thought ... ' Cobblers, much could and should have been done by the National and other national like bodies. Like having a back up route for starters! There is much I'd like to say, but now I am really glad I have resigned from all South Road clubs, for their lack of foresight, and shabby careless attitude to their’ members.
