In Egg! (Newbie) (1/8)

  1. HERE IN SOUTH AFRICA MATJIESFONTEIN IS THE LONGEST RACE FOR THE FANCIERS STAYING UP NORTH - 1056 KM. LAST YEAR I HAVE FLOWN THIS RACE AND BASKETED 10 BIRDS - 7 PIGEONS CLOCKED - 7 PLACES IN CLUB AND 5 IN FED. CLUB POSITIONS WAS 4, 12,13,14,15,20,24 OUT OF 30 PLACES. THE BIRDS HAVE BEEN LIBERATED ON THE SAT AT 06:45 AND THE WINNING BIRD WAS CLOCKED AT 07:10 SUNDAY MORNING. SELDOM THAT WE RECEIVED BIRDS BACK THE SAME DAY DUE TO HOT WEATHER IN THE LATER PART OF THE RACING SEASON.
  2. THANX WILL DO SO. I HAVE PROTEXIN (PROBIOTIC) AND WILL AD IT TO THE WATER AS WELL. MUST THE BIRDS CONTINUE FLYING / TRAINING OR MUST THEY REST?
  3. HERE IN HEIDELBERG, SOUTH AFRICA WE ARE THREE WEEKS AWAY BEFORE OUR FIRST RACE. CURRENTLY WE ARE BUSY WITH TRAINING TOSSES WITH THE FED. BUT THE YOUNG BIRDS STRUGGLE. I HAVE LOST 17 YOUNG BIRDS FROM TRAINING TOSSES AND YESTERDAY I SAW THE EVIDENCE WHY..... YOUNG BIRD DISEASE!!!! THE YOUNGSTERS EAT THERE CROPS FULL AND THE NEXT MORNING YOU ENTER THE LOFT, YOU SEE THE FOOD LYING ON THE PERCHES (VOMITING), THEY LOOSE CONDITION AND ARE SKINNY. I HAVE PUT THEM ON A COURCE WITH BELGAMCO DE WEERDT AND SEE IF IT WILL HELP. ANY OTHER ADVICE HOW TO GET THE BIRDS READY IN TIME FOR THE FIRST RACE?
  4. THIS IS MY LOFT I USED FOR THE PAST TWO SEASONS. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
  5. My club / Fed (OERF) had a limit of 30 birds (old and young) for several years, but for the 2007 season, starting June 2007, there will be a 20 bird limit in the Open Series and 20 bird limit in the young bird series. If you want to fly more, you have to register an extra team and have to pay. I think it is fair for everyone especially the beginners, because those fanciers with 300 pigeons (there is a member in my club with 300+ racers) it will difficult to pick 20 pigeons out of 300. I only breed 30 young birds each year, and kept 15 from the previous year. It is easier for me and my birds go to races week after week. No additional road work is given because they go in a race week after week.
  6. I like the Winning Performance Range - Blood + D-daily, Energizer Oil, Superformance, Anabol, and of course my favourite, Coloidal Silver- expensive but it works!!! Other products I like is the Deweerdt products (Belgasol, Belgabion, Belgaforme, WN, Belgamco and BS)
  7. YA IT IS EASY TO SAY GET GOOD BIRDS, BUT HOW DO U KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE A GOOD BIRD OR NOT? ONLY THE BASKET WILL TELL AND BY THEN IT IS TOO LATE BECAUSE HE ATE ALL YOUR FOOD AND WASTE MY TIME. YOU CANT TELL FROM THE DAY THE PIGEON HATCH, THAT IT WILL BE A GOOD BIRD OR NOT. HA HA HA
  8. DANKIE SAFFER!! I WILL REMEMBER IT. I DID OBTAIN A FEW BIRDS FROM SALES AND SEE HOW THEY PERFORM ON THE SHORTER DISTANCES ALSO OBTAIN A BIRD FROM MARIUS KLIENGBIEL. DO YOU KNOW HIM?
  9. Where can I download a pigeon loft organizer for FREE. No free trials etc. Boerseun.
  10. Here in South Africa we fly as follows: Short - 250 - 400 Middle - 400-600 Long - 600 - 800 Ultra - 800 + {that is in km of course} With our weather conditions and a blowing North / North West / North Easterly winds, racing here are not very easy. Is there someone out there that sent birds to the Sun City Million Dollar Race and what do you think of the management and training of the birds? I was learned by my brother that wins came out of bottles, and he won many races. You just have to give the right stuff. In my opinion Belgica Deweerdt products are very very good but expensive.
  11. Who knew about this: If you pair pigeons that you must take a look at the tail feathers - if the top tail feather of a cock lay to the left you have to pair the cock with a hen which top tail feather lays to the right?
  12. Birdman, how do you give the Elderberry extract and where can I obtain it? Do you give it in the water or directly in the throat?
  13. The first four races is between 250- 360 km. thank you all for the response i receive. but if I have to listen and implement all the advice I received, then I might just as well stop flying. I will look again at my feeding system etc. and maybe I can win one or two of the short distance races. How much feed do you give a pigeon per day? 20 / 30 / 40 grams per pigeon? My loft is situated ideally for club / federation. My town Heidelber in South Africa is usually the first drop, no matter which wind is blowing.
  14. ES I AGREE, BUT I STRUGGLE IN THE SHORT DISTANCE RACES. FOR THREE/FOUR RACES I DO NOT OBTAIN A PLACE IN THE TOP 30 IN THE CLUB. I REALLY STRUGGLE IN THE SHORT DISTANCES. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING THE OTHER DO IN THE SHORT DISTANCES THAT I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT? MAYBE I DO NOT HAVE SHORT DISTANCE BIRDS. I DON'T KNOW!
