    time limits.

Vic write in in your 'Word' and click save often ... then most you could lose then is the last line or so. Then copy and paste on here. Hope this helps, and all the breast to each and everyone next season!
  3. For the ones that struggle lol 'But Like I say, it won't never change and 'PIGEONS' will always be lumped with 'Poultry'. Hence pigeon racing will be a Poultry race ... which out side og the 'Headless Chicken races, which were more of an endurance test lol there are none ... hence no sport, hence Pigeons are Poultry, simple as that really lol
  4. Greyhound racing is the second most watch event - after Football - in Great Britain. But Like I say, it won't never change and will always be lumped with 'Poultry' ... unless of course after the next 'Blue moon' ( due within 23 years I reckon) a sensible case is put forward and somebody somewhere will take it aboard and sorted ... Bet if it meant just dictating to a P.R. firm it would be on the Agenda'! What agenda! The one that says Hawks need curtailing, and the experiment has been proved to be over zealous. That the RSCB is conning the back garden lovers of birds by accepting money to enhance their very own Distinction, via not only showing their Good looking falcons and hawks, but keep spout lies about their numbers etc. That whilst it is only right that every European state has the right to defend her country as they feel best suitable ... Facts that are washed under the carpet, for political and vote catching reasons, have a sensible and professional aspect placed before them. The agenda that say 'Pigeons' are mislabelled as flying rats and Ken Livingston should or could have been held account. That the MEDIA is presented with a proper, realistic FACT knowing program! The agenda that say a Think Tank and knowledgeable concern ' IS a mouthpiece for the fancy. That a sensible regime be put into place for Joe Public awareness of our sport. For a few pence EACH per year... We don't even get public acknowledgement for the Charities we help ever year, let alone a % that should - I believe - could go each year towards paying for a P.R. firm...Indeed actually paying for one! Then the rest to Charities... So much more too ... But the RPRA are terrified of the members’; Backlash’ if they even suggest it ... let alone go ahead a put it through. Yes I know, we spend weeks trying to get it through that unless membership is raise, or another 5p per bird is added - and I do many Fund - Raiser' every year for my clubs, then the club won't survive. What happens! You guess it... they spend the next 11 months asking why that extra £5 per year can't go to the 'Winnings' etc. and even believe it or not the ludicrous crap 'Weeer what I wanna know is why that extra £5 can't pay of the extra we have had to pay ... and what's left should go as 'Prize winnings' Sound familiar!

  7. No, so true that Mick, just means that certain party's etc. have to put it forward again, and again etc. Be nice if a P.R. firm put it together and presented it I guess.

    Inter com

How the internet began In ancient Israel, it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a young wife by the name of Dot. And Dot Com was a comely woman, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she had been called Amazon Dot Com. She said unto Abraham, her husband, "Why doth thou travel far from town to town with thy goods when thou can trade without ever leaving thy tent?" And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said, "How, Dear?" And Dot replied, "I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale and they will reply telling you which hath the best price. And the sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable (UPS)." Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. The drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever moving from his tent. But this success did arouse envy. A man named Maccabia did secret himself inside Abraham's drum and was accused of insider trading. And the young men did take to Dot Com's trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to camel dung. They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Siderites, or NERDS for short. And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums that no one noticed that the real riches were going to the drum maker, one Brother William of Gates, who bought up every drum company in the land. And indeed did insist on making drums that would work only with Brother Gates' drumheads and drumsticks. Dot did say, "Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others." And as Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel, or as it came to be known "eBay" he said, "We need a name that reflects what we are," and Dot replied, "Young Ambitious Hebrew Owner Operators." "YAHOO", said Abraham. And that is how it all began. It wasn't Al Gore after all.

An old hillbilly farmer had a wife who nagged him unmercifully. From morning until night (and sometimes later), she was always complaining about something. The only time he got any relief was when he was out plowing with his old mule. He tried to plow a lot, indeed every chance he got. One day, when he was out plowing, his wife brought him lunch in the field. He drove the mule into the shade, sat down on a stump, and began to eat his lunch. Immediately, his wife began nagging him again. Complain, nag, nag; it just went on and on. All of a sudden, the old mule lashed out with both hind feet -- caught her smack in the back of the head. Killed her dead on the spot. At the funeral several days later, the minister noticed something rather odd. When a woman mourner would approach the old farmer, he would listen for a minute, then nod his head in agreement; but when a male mourner approached him, he would listen for a minute, then shake his head in disagreement. This was so consistent, the minister decided to ask the old farmer about it. So after the funeral, the minister spoke to the old farmer, and asked him why he nodded his head and agreed with all the women, but always shook his head and disagreed with the men. "Well’ The old farmer said, ‘ The women would come up and say something about how nice my wife looked, or how pretty her dress was, so I'd nod my head in agreement." "And what about the men?" the minister asked. "They wanted to know if the mule was for sale."
  11. post from a mate who has sadly passed on. Was originally from Near Manchester, namely Bob Flemmings. Was always in the wars it semed, as one loved or disliked him. Possibly the Man on the eyesign theory. remember his posts like, the following, and as for eyesign he had no peers... but then I am never one for eyesign theory. But the following is typical of yearster year When I was a kid, (a few years back) I flew to 10x 5 gallon grease tins nailed 5' off the ground to a wooden fence. I had to place the lids back on them every night to keep the cat's out. These had dozens of holes made in them with big nails from the inside and this would cut the paw's of the cat's that jumped up at them. These lids had to be taken off every morning so as to let the birds out for a fly, but they were more than happy in those tin drum's and, that is perhaps the most valuable lesson that a pigeon novice can learn. GET AND KEEP THEM HAPPY. They don't need all this fancy 60'long crap we build today, they can be made happy flying to anything that is secure, warm, clean and dry, and sheltered from the weather. I won my first race flying to one of those 5 gal steel drums..Those were the day's. I used to take a small kids bucket and spade to school each day, and would stop at the railway yards on the way home to sweep out the corners of the wheat cars. That's how I fed them as a kid. Got my ass kicked many times by the railway yard guards who tried to keep me out of there. Finally, after being expelled from school several times because of pigeons, they, the head master and my mother, persueded my old man to build me a little shed for my birds. And from then on, I was the king of all the kids who kept pigeons in my neighbourhood and for miles around. Still got some old black and white pictures of all that stuff back then. The kids today don't seem to be as determined as we were. My buddy kept his birds in a big banana box in his bed room for ages before he got cought. His name was Clyde Drury HA HA HA. I think he still has pigeons also.

Boring ... suppose what one expects to see and want to post or see I guess, but a positive attitude is needed, so OOOOOAHH I’m positive about being negative, in that I negative about being positive. But being positive about being negative means I’m negative about being positive. So not wanting to be negative about being positive means I positive about being negative. Well POSSIBLY.in that scenario
  13. I am entirely on my own ... Misses is anti lol. I fly both North and South, and am in 5 So called nationals... Granted training is no prob as they go when ever I travel anywhere. South Rd club is nigh 20 miles away and one North Rd 12 and the other 7 miles aways... no duplications ... heard I can, but rather send both clubs and support them all. Fridays are hectic... especially as most Fridays I have to leave mid afternoon to go work. No one is prepared to look after or take my birds ... all ofer of course but have excuses on day. Even when I am raise a lot of money for the clubs, many don't attend or support ... That costs me in real terms about £150 out of my own pocket after I take time out from a gig, or pay someone to stand in for me. Do I mind! Only when the spouters, the corridor politics dig in and the wealthy contrive to make things better for themselves ayt us working men, and old age pensioners costs. Well I am changing my full flying membership to a honoury - none flying member. I've resigned from all South road clubs, and will be concentrating on just the North Rd clubs. Would I like a partner.... might, but she'll have to spend a lot of time in the loft with me etc. lol. Other than that I envisage conflict... which could lead to a break up and another flying member somewhere lol, so the bands out at the moment lol.

  16. Rossi there is no need for that ... they are fighting for Some Ones wealth and pockets as has always been the case. If they want to go and Fight ... like you suggest ohers do if they so want to - then fine, go and fight. Irag eh... Saddam was responcible for 100,000 to 150,000 thousands deaths etc. The land was not good but governable. So as warned, NO Weapons of mass distruction... 4 million killed for the lack of... Hospitals, Treatment water pollutio n etc. etc. etc. and nearly 700,000 killed since the invasion. And sight sight of any ending GOOD or Bad. Best left alone as was .... but the Oil and s Stragtegic point is well worth iy I suppose - Do I heckers like. Have Family and Friends in both Irag and Afghanistan ... yes I am concerned... But they are big enough and ugly enouh to know what they want, and the last thing they want is me, or you worrying about them They know, like in Afghanistan that the Taliban is just an excuse to biuld the GAS PIPES. My nephew is a pilot , and another one in charge of the aircrafts and they are there to protect the pipes being laid to end - or rather to make it possibleour own rip us off for Gas etc. and not the Russians ... though of course it will be agreed that it will be a joint rip off. So please don't post popergander here mate, most of us know the reality.

Mind Rose take it from one that knows... hiring the school playground would not be feasible, indeed it would be disapointing, for may active 'Combatants' here would not turn up! Seen many that on a turn on a tanner, or spntaniously have a go ... seen many that have time to think not turn up, or have a lame crutch and a fake Quack's note. Yes even so called hard cases that, when, there is time to think and reason things out, that the reality that 'They' may not have read the same mandate that they have in the their heads ... well reality steps in and they don't show. Simple as that ... and many feel that it's best to rely on the pen ... behind their P.C closed in and comfy in their home. Much like 'him' who makes bullets with Corridor Politics, babbles whispers behind slight of hand, and YET doesn't show, or abstains at the meetings. Leaving a foolish look on the faces of thoses that went along ... and suprise suprise in no time at all his at it again, and a bigger suprise is that yet again he has his followers. Time to have a 'Roly's Ring' once and for all to air these views and any one wishing to look in, or participate CAN! Others, that are not interested, or believe it to be detrimental, needed! Seems logical to me ... but another 2 pointers are a must. 1. Another password is needed to enter once on this site. and 2. Any one that tries to bring it onto the main forum be banned. Indeed that then would possibly be the only reason to block posts or ban someone.
  23. Unfortunately Maff / DAFRA still regard pigeons as Poultry , and comes under that. Yes it is time to have it changed... golly it's a couple of hundred years when they were raised as feed by the Gentry.... and they were plumb fat things.... Again this is of no importance to DAFRA, or most of the voting public.... Should be to us, but we as usual sit on our hands getting a thrill twiddling the thumbs apparentley ... Another reason for a P.R. firm I'd wager!
  24. Well Silverwings our friend Dr Gord sent me the following to perhaps include here: Quote: This article came out today: The original work cited is in Nature (April 20, 2005) How a white feather can outfox a falcon Tim Radford, science editor Thursday April 21, 2005. When aerial menace zooms in from behind, the feral pigeon does what a dove's got to do - it shows the white feather and stands a better chance of getting clean away, US scientists say. Albert Palleroni of Harvard University and three colleagues report in Nature today that they set out to solve the puzzle of the white patch often found on the rump of the feral pigeon Columbia livia. In seven years the researchers recorded 1,485 attacks by five adult peregrine falcons on flocks of feral pigeons flying around Davis, California. They also observed 309 attacks by juveniles. They made a note of the plumage of the luckless target. And they found that whether the peregrines were at the peak of their powers, or still on a learning curve, the result was the same. Only one dead pigeon in 50 had a set of white feathers on its rump. The scientists reasoned that the white patch might be an evolutionary adaptation that helped its inheritor to live longer and procreate more. Falcons swoop with fearsome speed: the fastest have been clocked at 157 metres a second - around 320mph. So they tested the idea by capturing 756 white-rumped and blue-grey pigeons and swapping their plumage coloration. They then released the birds again, and monitored the kill rate of three particular peregrines. Those birds who could no longer show the white feather fell victim to peregrine strike as often as the blue-coloured pigeons, while the newly whitened showed a much increased ability to survive. No pigeon can outfly a falcon. They escape by aerobatics. The white patch somehow distracts the peregrine. The peregrine falcon almost disappeared from large areas of its range 40 years ago, but has slowly been making a comeback. As more falcons begin to cull the pigeons in modern cities, the US scientists argue, an increasing proportion of their prey will start to show the white feather.
  25. I believe this, or something like is what pigeonscout is refering to... http://www.themodernapprentice.com/diseases.htm Just a little follow up, and the Rapture brigade are not telling the whole truth... obviously. And it is the POUR on and not the norm .Ivomectin / dectomax... Extracted from BHW 21st October (Joe Murphy - he of the spanked bottom) p26 Ivomectin / dectomax Linda Brooks (SHU Secy) received letter from Harker’s Dr J M Ballany: "Pigeons coming into contact with the above CATTLE products stand an extremely high risk of being poisoned as the dose rate for these products is 500 micrograms / kg bodyweight which relates to 1ml / 10kg up to a maximum dose of 40ml in cattle. Translating this dose rate to pigeons (average weight 400g) 0.04 of a millilitre would be applied. No pigeon fancier would be capable of administering such a small dose accurately. This dose may well be fatal to pigeons as no research has been done in pigeons with Ivomectin or Dectomax. These products are not intended for amateur use. It is illegal to purchase / administer these chemicals for use on other than the licensed species. Dectomax / Ivomectin are irritating to the skin and eyes and must not be used on dogs. Operators should wear rubber gloves and boots with a waterproof coat and goggles / visor when applying the product. "The effect of these chemicals on birds of prey eating treated pigeons would be similar to that of Dieldrin / Lindane as they would accumulate in the bird of prey and,,,, "AND EVENTUALY CAUSE DEATH.""""" Both these chemicals have withdrawal periods up to 56 days after treatment before it is safe to eat meat or drink milk from treated animals. Please advise your colleagues that it is extremely inadvisable to recommend treatment of pigeons with these products." this maybe of help ROLAND, and agrees with my first post on your" sparrowhawks"WHICH I SAID COULD POISON THEM" Yes and Falconers wouldn't be treating with this either! However a bit of forethought as to what pigeons falcons eat... Interesting also from another fancier... use a farm product called noramectin for cows and sheep,i buy it from country wide stores or local farm shops.if they ask what`s it for i just say i keep about 20 sheep, they hand it over no problem but take your address.its in a liquid form just put 0.2mil on the back of the birds neck job done. http://www.wetaskiwincoop.com/noromectin_product.htm
