Pigeons of the past were undoubtedly better, losses fewer and velocity's on par with today. Considering that 'Management' is vastley improved, feeding and added extra's more readily available, and within most peoples pockets / means, I think that the performances in that scenario means the birds of yesreyear far surpassed today's. I believe of course that too much imbreeding, for too long, and especially inlight that 90% or more that do it haven't the foggiest idea of what they are doing... and often why. They believe for an example that you can via mating back to parents etc. that you will get at least birds as god as the Champ / or foundation bird.

No Mike not true... basically that means that if you are in a favourable location, - wind wise most weeks - and you work well with the birds (or a loft manager in some cases) that your birds will be better placed in the results, full stop! Not many birds in Wales time in before Norwich/Great Yarmouth/ Lowerstoft from Lerwick I'd wage Indeed I'd wager further,Louth will 99% of the time clock in before, sayBlackpool or Liverpool. And then who gets the writes, regardless how well the less fortunate- loft position wise - fare. Indeed Like Pothercary's y'b that was within a few yards velocity, when flying against the EAST Coast Club and was 70 miles inland in a Westerly wind. 5th section 5th overall, beaten by Coastal boys in the same section .... Who gets the write up's! Not Pthercary. Which columnist takes time to write about these performance at a National Field.... Hardly any one now I've retired my pen. If the kids are up before 6, then they should be put in the lofts and made to clean out from top to bottom .... with the knwledge that if they have a Good day, then they can go back and feed and water before dark lol....

Only need one ... but easier if it has one or two more to race home again on the heart, and the lungs etc. You know when your loft is in condition when 0 or so drop together, and then if a few weeks later your not up with the winners, or winning anything, then your birds aren't good enough. Most I've ever sent is 12, nearly the whole loft lol. Most weeks 3/4 South and North each tops.

Nick a friend of mine was alas buried Thursday, has a complete to dispose... some Fed winners there too, always had a few come each season. His widow has put them in anothers friends garden oft as the memories etc... Lret me know asap.
