[ However I would put our pigeons on a par with our Olympic cyclists LOL ;D ;D/ Still you can always rely on the Canny Scot for a laugh eh! ;D

Well the basic difference is slight really as to a lot. Tic Bean Maple Protein 22 . 5 25 . 4 Carbs 59 .1 53 .3 Water 14 14 . 3 Fibre 5 .4 7 .1 Fat 0 .9 1. 5 So yes more carbs and protein I guess. Have just added Tic Beans to my birds feed yesterday. Yes a lot being thrown about lol.

Now novice! Don't tell me that most know about the above posts... Even the Scots lol. So was just joshing.

I got my interpretation from what Roland said and not from your original post. He claimed that he had been told that it was easier to win a National in Scotland as they are still feeding beans. It was not I who compared fancier it was Roland. I simply defended the Scots. Aye a hard, some may say an impossible job that, defending the Scots eh! :P ;D ;D Now they have the Drum telegragh, they might not all use just beans. ;D ;D :( But, on a serious note, Legumes are the most natural feed for a pigeon bar none. That is a fact. Grass gives Buffulo's, temedous power, but need 8 stuamachs to digest ... which pigeons haven't, the whale on plankton, Algae is brill, a pure sauce of natural energy. But wouldn't feed pigeons them - well sea - weed is great. But that is for oxygen. Now for over 30 years that has been substituted for blood, as it does the say job, carries the oxygen to the brain till the spleens have made up the blood loss etc. BUT all oygen has to have a the right combinations of 3 -4 different elements and only a slight variation. So again all and any thing must be in moderation. Brewers Yeast has good benefits... can also cause toxin poisonto the system or YEAST trouble if over done... which counteracts any good by far, indeed can finish your race season. Tap water kill any and all bateria Good as well as bad... most still use it. Logically any and every time a 'Remedy' is added to the water it should have been left standing over night, or from a spring or well even ... Some buy bottle water! I'm too tight to waste silly money on that! So it was a mite tongue in cheek with that comment novice. But it was and still is often said, likewise still flying Kirkpatricks... and many are still winning with them.... But Strains, and what is so called pure, added is another topic altogether. But then the 5 great name of a clever Scotsmans still eludes us all ... Was there one? :-/ :-/ ;D ;D ;D

Was done at Walgrave school! till it had a new headmaster. ... Like I say the parents used to attend Saturday morning etc. to watch them arrive. Now Jak Jak on here is envolved with such a school ... be like Harroden I'd think. But their club members run it. Am sure he will fill you in with the details.

of one of kids. I THINK YOU'RE THE FATHER OF ONE OF MY KIDS... A guy goes to the supermarket and notices an attractive woman waving at him. She says hello. He's rather taken aback because he can't place where he knows her from. So he says, "Do you know me?" To which she replies, "I think you're the father of one of my kids." Now his mind travels back to the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife and says, "Are you the stripper from the bachelor party that I made love to on the pool table with all my buddies watching while your partner whipped my butt with wet celery???" She looks into his eyes and says calmly, "No, I'm your son's teacher."

I believe both. Without constition they fold, with out the love of home, constition isn't needed. As I posted, when bringing in any new bird(s) their constition must be the first primary thing to go for. Now I believe that you may well find that in the eye. First thing one should always look at when entering the loft is their eyes. They will tell you straight off what condition they are in. Must be bright and alert. Yes sure different circles / time of day etc. may mean different variations of this. But they must read to you straight off. When picking that pooler, often the one winking at you is the first home. Never had a sad looking eye first home ye. Indeed wouldn't send one now a days. Also one must have confidence in the person that you are having the birds off.

True... didn't remember what I wrote last night lol.... Knew of course it would be reality lol Thought I might have a red face and some sorry's to dish out! Now tsk tsk I'm sorry I haven't ;D ;D But the simple fact is, your birds, regardless of systems, and beliefs, MUST have a great love of home. That is the force that drives them on when it becomes a little harder, further. Of course conditioned etc. But with out the love of home, contented and feeling same SAFE.

But the treatment for Salmonella won't help the birds with Yeast one iota!!! Fact That!!!So, again, may be nissed, But I will and do say that too many are treating willy Nilly for things that not only DON'T, or WON'T work, but will actually enhance the very thing they are trying to eliminate!
-
But Delboy, Maidmarrion is welsh and I need to out do him lol. But the reality is true and factual as this ole fool sees it!

Lol twilight zone of winners lol.

Sorry, but you know I had a pigeon drop in just a few days ago. Now you are not the wife, so no need to lie to you! Trouble is, and it is great condition. It looks more than fine, and has dilly dallied around here for a week or two. Now here is the reality! Do I send it - at costs - up the road to get shot off? Do I, which is my normal roote, report it! May I asked here what the owner will thnk? It has an old crumble rubber - no long there because I disgarded it! Will he say 'neck it' as he lost it ..... yonks ago.? Will he think I am coming it? I seldom ever neck my own birds, so won't anybodies elses and that's the fact! So will he want it back? Do I want it? Yes I know neck it as it is no good to me, or him, and never say a word! What I hope is that it will pi** off! Don't need it hanging around and that's for sure... Do I put it's ring number up on here to see who owns it? Itr is a loverly bird as are all Birds after the moult. Do I want it? No, will he? doubt it? so just what am I,or a fancier supposed to do?
-
WQell Nissed, but at day's end, the simple reality is is Moxicillion, sorry about the spelling. But that is the answer to this terrile plight. Bayytril!!! Where are we here? If not nissed I'd have probablly not not bothered. But those in the know are saying Moxicillion however you spell it. Sure some are on the Baytrill! But after that WHAT????!!! What! Moxicillion is what they in the know are using!! So that IS the fact, and as for me! Well end of subject! Nissed but spout thye truth!!!
-
Exactly!!!! Sorry to say but Albear is more than a 100% right if possible. Sorry to say, and I am as nissed as a pewt, but a very clever, realist once told me several time times. 'If you want to make aname for yourselve, and be a National winner MOVE to Scotland!!! and it is so very true. Still feeding the tic beans, still rac9ing witha wng and a prayer! Saying the same things that work for me may not work for you! Are we saying that than you fly TURKEYS!!! like the twits athat say a certain strain needs to be fed as such!! Yes I've heard it, golly, THEY are pigeons!! Or are you saying that because a certain name flew them they are NOT! Or as such because a certain fellow races thenm thay are better than PIGEONS! Grow up! THEY are PIGEONS and as such do what is natural to them 'Fly home'!!"!!! Never mind about the codswallop of egoistical stupidity. Yes show off, and try and make the senceless believe. Fact is that the 'Champions' only beat - often *- the also ran by a fraction of a yard!!! Err der iiiieee dum where are we here? Fact is that a [pigeon restonds only to what is natural to it's instinc's and behavior!!! Tell me please where it say that it is differnert!!! If the bird has health, and then the costition, and a love for home wher - beside the right feed for it's propose race, that it doesn't relate to a pigeon??? Of course it does so stop this stupidity that means EGOISTICAL, Puffuffed up sel important takes the honour from what the bird has done and is capable off# P.s. You didn't fly it!! The bird did, and as such the BIRD gets the credir. Sure you did what is fine by it... when it was first hatched and then through the stages. But all you really did, and the bird half a second behind you, was prepare and nurture it's basic instincs!!! Right bird on the day with the right frame of mind and that UYOU have conditioned! Full stop, so none of this mumbo jumbo of how great to are, let your ego see sence!!! The bird was good enouh on the day because it wanted it's home, because it was healthy and conditioned FULL Stop and good emnough to carry on when mant ythoght B***l***ks and went to another loft and and said Stuff you! If from the very strat they don'y home to their nest box, the stuff you. Too Many don'te even see it. let alone able to understand it! So it want's it old nest box where it was born! the rest is history, because if conditioned, and wants it enough, all you have to do is make sure it has the miles under it's wing to be able to get home... faster than the next! Yeah then you are the 'Great' and the bird half a second behind is the also ran! Never mind the Wind, the loft position, you are an also ran. Dare This drunkard ole fool press the send button! Yeah because it is realism and true. Further most race the winner is far behind the better bird! Fact! Niswed so I'll send it without correcting the ... wwwwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooossssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh gone

You know, the more I ask, the more it becomes apparent that setting up for the 'Distance etc. the more one see two defining ways... the one tried and test so forth of racing and educating young birds, and Berwick for lerwick etc - getting them up to half way them a week off before the 'Big one' is fast fading and losing patrons of this way. Seems that now, many hardly toss (like me) y/b's and never race them. Then lightly raced as yearlings, two or three. 150 - 250 miles first race for sitting hens. Even 400 od first race for yearlings. Yes some even send Pau as their first race with great results ... Seems further to me, and a pet topic of mine granted, that too many treat and act for what they deem would be best for them, for a human! We can't educate them ... we can make them happy and feeling SAFE in their enviorment. They can become loft fit via not training, indeed most sucessful fanciet I ever had the grace to know never ever sent a bird, old or young more than 20 miles, and swore that if, and once a bird had done 50 miles it could go and return in great time from anywhere. We don't, can't teach them landmarks, nor breaking points. we don't know, only summise how they do home. We do know that Condition and health creates it's own motivation A love of home, an wanting to get tere. How we arrive that we can get them to that state is really puffed up self pride... We only know what SEEMS to work, with many different things that could be the real essence of how and why. For a certainyty Many pigeons excell and do well INSPITE of us. So for me it is KISS, and let them that will develope a love of their home. A home where they feel safe, are fed and looked after - they never need educating how to look after them selves either. A natural mating cycle and a healthy natural rearing of young. These form and course a bonding with their home and enviorpment, which some will love and want more of than others. the more thay want it, better the pigeon. the lesser, well don't hurry back, and the lesser still decide to go else where from time to time... Most pigeons don't get lost, they just bugger off!

Well. I think, will have a few cock Canaries this season. Norwich whistle well, the brighter the better eh! Toying with the idea of the back of the cage for allowing feeding and watering. Nice unbreakable glass to let them sit out in the garden. Yes will be aired at the back, and underneath of course via a couple of wire meshing floors. Yes and a few perches between to blocks with holes in to place the dalrod between them.

Just to say to all thoses that wished me all the best last year .... IT DIDN'T work, was useless infact ... so this year would you just send me cheques or cash! Vouchers from some... Woolworths, Zavvi etc. are out! Thank you ;D ;D ;D

or a package of sausages etc. All prices that went rocketing because the price of delivery was ... Cheapest oil I believe since 1951! Now is the tax on it coming down a mite too? Bottom dollars says no, and very little change. Then whhhooooooooooossssshhhhhhhhhh up it will go again as soon as it goes up a couple of pence.... As for the Feds etc. I'd say no... but have to wait and see what the prices will be later, but most Feds / Concerns need a few extra pence to keep us rolling.... Not say that the 'Leaders' are an good, no! Indeed they need all the help they can get eh! But again Selfishness will abound!

And must add that it is the BIRDS' proven constition that is all important- whether to hone if possible and certainly when buying.

Was our guess speaker at Corby Dinner etc. Was doing a Fund - raiser or would have asked her. But never a mention even behind the hand so to speak. Has run it's course of course. Be a few months at least I'd reckon at earliest before oat is known. Hope it has settled in the dust and a new start made... -
Good post Albear. You have hit the nail on the head where I always say that North is by far the harder road, and I fly both. Single tossing strengthens the heart. Home contentment from a very early age, just lots of piddling about and leisure time creates, as far as I am concerned the all important 'Want to be Home' syndrome. Now t me, that is by far the most important vasis of a distance pigeon, creating their want and contentment of their home. healthy / condition etc. are then of course very important.... But without the first part, the others won't apply.... well not on a hard day or the distance they need that want to be home factor first. Everything else, a far as I'm concerned is a bonus. And of course you want a 'Good' pigeon, but that goes surely without saying. Soon have a team that 'Home' getting them to race on the other hand needs the traits put into place straight off. Like when they nip back from one appartment to the next where you find them in their old nest box... That to me is the first test, seldom seen any good birds that didn't. JMO
