  1. 8) 8)Though in reality the bigger, the quicker and least exercise needed. Smaller can go a lot further with out pushing any buttons. Like a large dog needs a lot less exercise than a smaller oe!
  2. What of the 60 are priced at 4 for say £25, and 10 others are make up to say 6 - 8? 15 x £25 less 10 or more @£25 soon knocks holes in that equation I'm afraid. And most are at least 2 or more.... go figure.
  3. Fine, relay the birds. Couriers split the monies. Then as long as it is short, it would level out most probably. Sure sometime they'll win - money wise - and sometime not, but overall - like any franchise, or Royal mail etc. they all relay. Doesn't have to be a Franchise, just common sense and honesty amongst themselves.
  4. One must give any and every bird a chance to home on the day. Then get the merit it deserves. So 4 O'clock or before if the sun is just coming through, and no HOD. Then if a bird stops for a rest 2 -3 hours, a tot of water and a sandwich fine, it will carry on. Birds on the loft next morning didn't spend the night till 4 25 next morning suitting on a roff around the corner. So it it was just 30 miles away, and starts off again at say 3 . 45 then it should be counted as that. Ok. I agree the velocity will come down a bit... so that is where HOD seemingly level it out in theory.
  5. For a youngster off 'T3 Pheonix' I walk around with a sandwich Board lol ;D ;D ;D
  6. Yes that might work ... But have reservations personally in as much I can't see many changing their’ minds as to where they got winners from. Further - as to the above quote, the part I'd highlight would be '... people should be letting others know about the performance of birds any way'! I’m afraid this just never happens in reality, or at best very rarely, it being more a 'Wink and a nudge’ game like, and not very forth coming as a general rule. I therefore feel 'Advertising' is probably the best way forward personally until a a household name. Golly they needn’t even go to a race, but like some advertise they have won nationals. So a 'Morgan’s' fork, being forthright and honest is longer, but far more reliable. But I see, as most do, advertisements every week that are rubbish! But! one or two become very famous and need never do oat else. I mean why advertise when sold out every year! Yet they still get a few 'Punts' every so often. I mean via many ways, besides the Scribe have a pair of youngsters of their top pair. So advertise till a ‘Good inn needs no Bush’ and then just a little here and there to keep in the fanciers domain.
  7. Give Peter a Chance ...tis early yet lol ;D ;D

    Fat!

they say drinking makes you fat :-/ :-/ It makes me lean .... Against Walls, tables and chairs etc ;D ;D
  9. Youngsters can be Basket Trained on O/B race days. Fed and watered in the basket of course. But the best time is from the nest box.

    Thanks
  11. Agree 100%. the more you have, the less managerment level ... Not talking about the ones that can stay at home all day, and or have loft managers. Most flyers that bred dozens and race more is A. a sign of inadequacies and or relying on 'One' being right and taking the honours. Feed costs saved are better spent 'Training that 20 miles a day, or Vet Bills / remedies. Walk before you run. Let the birds tell you they like your systema nd want to stay, and or hurry home. Soon you will be having a problem of making room for the y/b's every season, which is without doubt the best testimony to success. Don't add nest boxes or perches... sort out thoses that haven't earnt theirs, or their corn. Good luck.
  12. Yep, that in one. Then cross the youngsters. The ones that like your set up will stay, and others move on, or dilly dally home at best. 2 - 3 years you will have a fair idea of what you've got and their ability. Trouble is THEN is the time to cross these birds. Then these could cross now back to the original of course!

    KIPPS

Missed out meeting them when they stayed at Frank's (Bristow) but hopefully will get along next time. Was interesting though becuase I was redisigning my loft, and have now the same set up ... On a smaller scale, and price lol.
  14. I'd think thrice or more about buying y/b's in personally. Buy in a kit of old birds and mate and x mate etc. like the glorious chance just gone by at louella's when the get shot of 'Breeders' Have / had too many now, or I certainly would have, should have perhaps. But 3 years from now, I really hope not to have any prisoners. Just aint comfortable with them personally. But a darn site better than having youngsters and losing a fair %tage of them. May have been the 'Breeders though left with the racers ;D ;D ;D But this seasons ending is one I look forward to for sorting out and be on the road of an established set up.
  15. You know, I believe most sincerely, that Mid Week racing was just a ploy for the 'Haves' to extract more funds from the working /ground floor lads. Nothing more, nothing less, 2 - 3 'Money' making exercises during the week to bolster their' coffers and used the scenario of 'Better than Training birds'. Well if that is the case, was is it so b;umming dear. You can load your vechile up with a your 50 birds, and a few mates, and take them 50 miles for £15 divided by 4 - 5... hich means in a race 6 birds tops just sending ... so the other 44 stay at home! No, you do both! Send what you can afford, and hike a lift for trainers. And in reality just where and when and how often does the workingman's loft clean up? Rare, very rare indeed.
  16. Agree 100% Alan. But you know, the biggest cancer in our sport, is, has been, and unfortunately will always be I'm afraid, is those able, contrive always for own interests, and certainly, very seldom. and most never, what is actually A. Best for the sport, and B. Best for members in general. Then as you quoted becomes only too apparent I'm afraid.
  17. [Tom you missed my question, could I have an answer please. And can you clarify what the easterly border is, are parts of England in it? It would be good to hear the facts Albear you didn't really expect an answer there did you ... thought not! But at least you won't be disappointed then on that score! ;D ;D
  18. So, Alan, whilst you say the truth, why can't it be then 'Just give the birds every help and hour of daylight'! Why can't it be then, Regardless of what time... that will be the time timed in' :-/ :-/
  19. Agree 100% and not just Eddie Manns, been a lot, even , was going to say 3 years back.... but in all honesty, just about EVERY year, and more than one. Golly when it happens in the likes of the MNFC, then it can and does happen anywhere.
  20. To be honest, it is surely the second day, and forward that the water is better for the birds. Ok leave it over night....

    Darwin Awards

LIFE IS ABOUT LIVING....IT IS BY FAR THE MOST VALUABLE ASSET WE AS hUMANS HAVE ....ENGAGE AND ENJOY IT NOW....FOR JUST AS TOMORROW ISNT PROMISED....NEITHER IS THE NEXT MINUTE Here is how some guys ended the year It's that time again... The Darwin Awards are finally out, the annual honour given to the persons who did the gene pool the biggest service by killing themselves in the most extraordinarily stupid way. Last year's winner was the fellow who was killed by a Coke machine which toppled over on top of him as he was attempting to tip a free soda out. This year's winner was a real rocket scientist... HONESTLY! Read on...And remember that each and every one of these is a TRUE STORY!!! And the nominees were: Semifinalist #1 A young Canadian man, searching for a way of getting drunk cheaply, because he had no money with which to buy alcohol, mixed gasoline with milk. Not surprisingly, this concoction made him ill, and he vomited into the fireplace in his house. This resulting explosion and fire burned his house down, killing both him and his sister. Semifinalist #2 Three Brazilian men were flying in a light aircraft at low altitude when another plane approached. It appears that they decided to moon the occupants of the other plane, but lost control of their own aircraft and crashed. They were all found dead in the wreckage with their pants around their ankles. Semifinalist #3 A 22-year-old Reston , VA , man was found dead after he tried to use octopus straps to bungee jump off a 70-foot rail road trestle. Fairfax County police said Eric Barcia, a fast food worker, taped a bunch of these straps together, wrapped an end around one foot, anchored the other end to the trestle at Lake Accotink Park, jumped and hit the pavement. Warren Carmichael, a police spokesman, said investigators think Barcia was alone because his car was found nearby. 'The length of the cord that he had assembled was greater than the distance between the trestle and the ground,' Carmichael said. Police say the apparent cause of death was 'Major trauma.' Semifinalist #4 A man in Alabama died from rattlesnake bites. It seems that he and a friend were playing a game of catch, using the rattlesnake as a ball. The friend -no doubt a future Darwin Awards candidate - was hospitalized. Semifinalist #5 Employees in a medium-sized warehouse in west Texas noticed the smell of a gas leak. Sensibly, management evacuated the building extinguishing all potential sources of ignition; lights, power, etc. After the building had been evacuated, two technicians from the gas company were dispatched. Upon entering the building, they found they had difficulty navigating in the dark. To their frustration, none of the lights worked. Witnesses later described the sight of one of the technicians reaching into his pocket and retrieving an object that resembled a cigarette lighter. Upon operation of the lighter-like object, the gas in the warehouse exploded, sending pieces of it up to three miles away. Nothing was found of the technicians, but the lighter was virtually untouched by the explosion. The technician suspected of causing the blast had never been thought of as ''bright'' by his peers. And Now, for the winner of this year's Darwin Award: (As always, awarded posthumously): The Arizona Highway Patrol came upon a pile of smoldering metal embedded in the side of a cliff rising above the road at the apex of a curve. The wreckage resembled the site of an airplane crash, but it was a car. The type of car was unidentifiable at the scene. Police investigators finally pieced together the mystery. An amateur rocket scientist... Had somehow gotten hold of a JATO unit (Jet Assisted Take Off, actually a solid fuel rocket) that is used to give heavy military transport planes an extra 'push' for taking off from short airfields. He had driven his Chevy Impala out into the desert and found a long, straight stretch of road. He attached the JATO unit to the car, jumped in, got up some speed and fired off the JATO! The facts as best as could be determined are that the operator of the 1967 Impala hit the JATO ignition at a distance of approximately 3.0 miles from the crash site. This was established by the scorched and melted asphalt at that location. The JATO, if operating properly, would have reached maximum thrust within 5 seconds, causing the Chevy to reach speeds well in excess of 350 mph and continuing at full power for an additional 20 -25 seconds. The driver, and soon to be pilot, would have experienced G-forces usually reserved for dog fighting F-14 jocks under full afterburners, causing him to become irrelevant for the remainder of the event. However, the automobile remained on the straight highway for about 2.5 miles (15-20 seconds) before the driver applied and completely melted the brakes, blowing the tires and leaving thick rubber marks on the road surface, then becoming airborne for an additional 1.4 miles and impacting the cliff face at a height of 125 feet leaving a blackened crater 3 feet deep in the rock. Most of the driver's remains were not recoverable. Epilogue: It has been calculated that this moron attained a ground speed of approximately 420-mph, though much of his voyage was not actually on the ground. You just couldn't make this stuff up, could you? PEOPLE JUST LIKE THIS ARE STILL ALL AROUND US, AND THEY ARE ALLOWED TO VOTE AND REPRODUCE!!

:-/ :-/ :-/ Wondering .... :-/ If I do a crusade on his behalf :-/ Will I also get some free pigeons ;D ;D ;D Seriously though, it isn't so much the context, but the manner it is put over I believe. Always told - not now a days of course with these stupid ettiquette rules, that you could call some one a B*******d as long as you smile. :B Been close a few times myself I believe, like a few others to being barred. So I feel it is alright to disagree, but not to be disagreeable. Don't of course know why, or how.... was Welsh of course, but tha in it's self... Nah ;D ;D But the truth of the matter is that we are al summising! Yes he was,a prevalent poster. Yes he certainly has his views, and stated them. But that in it's self will never get anyone banned on here. Nor getting under someones skin, or being truthful. Even upsetting a Moddy, or speaking close to the wind. These are the facts. Another fact is, as of yet, we don't know any facts! But somewhere, sometime, we all over step the mark I guess, and once in a while by a long chalk. Will miss him while his in the Sn B :Bin' though
  24. Well what I will leave as a part farewell to this subject, How many times have were heard, and repeated every season times too, that ' .... the winner will be on the loft at 4 300 wait hunched up and waiting to get in' Now does anyone believe thaey were on nexts door's roof the night before, or an hour or so away and flew that 1 hour or more getting home? Indeed how many would clock in between hod if given the chance and an early lib! quite a few I'd wager. Hence that is why I say every power to the elbow, and am more interested in the genuine birds that will, would, do and have, than any contrived meddling, or any unnessary reasons.
  25. Was you riding him just before he was reportedly shot? :-/ Yep and I was a good few stone lighter then but I alwas made sure he got a good feed of oats after excercise!!!!!!!!!!! You mean 'Your Oats' i bet LOL ;D ;D
