So sad... same problem. A few years back the Northants Fed joined up with the Leicestershire Fed. Had a equally as good results... Leicester slightly better all round. Had a breeder / buyer and got of to a sound start. Never got the rresults, so naturally asked.... Personaloitie erulpted! Leicester wouldn't give the results, said they weren't at beck and call etc. It folded. So here again about 5 years ago was talked through and the Algamation was formed. Coalville also. Northants did well, indeed won the Lerwick a couple or more times. Now a personality clash... yes big time and unbelieveable egoistic self importants. Leicester now won't fly against Coalville, the chairman has resigned because of silly school boy's egos and sadly end off! Who suffers? the grass rootes of course. Who cares... only the grass roots, the Leicester lot sit aloft on a platform of self righteousness and indigination! Perhaps they should have a slap! Like the hassle they caused with the Transported, when the Northants on more than one occassion had to drive to the Lib points temselves. Then they say 'Want out Convoyer... then they want Our driver, all silly excuses to be something they dream off... but alas are plonkers. Gosh! Saving money, more merit etc. and they put over glib talk to tickle ears and ruin it for the vast majority. AND they get voted back in! Could write a dossier on such stupid idodacy.

Very true and good post. Had problem where a hen found a way under the loft. Never happy after, and didn't I wished I'd never given her the chance! But the Floor, well stich two bricks around them!

Just picking up on one or two points being made 'Pro' and 'Pigeon Holing' them I believe one very -- but sad point was - 'Prevailing Winds' and Easier Racing'. You will never gret merit, deserved or otherwise. You need challenging race points to hone out and get a good decent family of birds etc. So that in it's self has two demeaning knock on effects for starter. Well that also just about somes up the other part ... one part being Shifting goal post, ego's. and well does need one go on.

It's a joke whichever way you call it! Tis again that selfish boon that will take another bite, another toll of the fanciers. Never mind what thay call it, time they grew up and settled ego's in the sez pool where they belong, and member vote them out of offece. BUT they won't, and down the line away more will get dispondent and leave. National Jokers may be a more apt name. The real test in Wales, and merit earners, are those great flyers that fly the Thurso's and Lerwicks. Real fanciers understand and rspect them! Even 50 odd from France and Spain etc can't raises as much merit. BUT.... seekers of undeserved glories clamber that way. Yes good birds ... many lost on a hard day too unfortunately, But if in say Cardiff I'd much rather win Lerwick than Saints any day. They are hard races, and only proven families fly them regularly, so you know the fancier has put time, efort and graft into these birds, and finish up being the goods.

Sad to say, it will come back. Indeed if you have a nigh dead or dead one and shoo it off. - If it's a cull only thing to do is splash pleanty of anti freeze over it to keep it warm, and leave it there ...

Yep Patty... but even with oils and Aid, stinging nettles etc. etc. to really acheive that condition, there must be a lote of so called 'Feather Pests' allowed a free hand. You know they good birds feathering is really tops at marking station as you are covered with lice etc.

11 Cocks and 12 hens celibacy. then mated up for the Distance - if any left lol. Mind have a tad too many really... because they are mainly bought in as y/b's and some are yearlings, and some two year old. Will breed about 40 - 50 even, (Some from the stock loft of course) and if I have a good season I will be vastly overstocked next season. 12 pairs of racers is as much as I want to be able to manage.

Likewise when I delivered in Oxfordshhire ... well many place at no cost to the owner and let the bird up at their loft - as no one was there. Left it sitting on traps etc. NEVER EVER had one fancier phone and say Thanks! Yes this Phone rage of keeping informed is just that. Should waste the extra time and money saying 'All being well, if no traffic hold ups, breakdowns, re direted, etc. etc. etc. Then after they'd moan. Yeah alright.... But blumming heckers don't they rabbit on needlessly lol ;D ;D But sadly it is a fact... and phoning in reality adds unwanted extra burden etc. best tell they. Picked up.... get there when I can... but now they won't accept that! Rods for your own back spring to mind eh! I have the front open now... all year round. Last 2 - 3 I didn't, and closed the front a mite. Didn't think they fared as well. Have shelter from the breeze or wind / chill of course.

Have a Multi burner. Very easy to fit. Clean chimney first of course. Older house won't need a Liner, sales talk, and a 'Cheery picker to do it is rubbish. Never had one. Only well season wood though. It is the damp / wet logs that evaporate and cause cresote ike on iside. Now this can spred through the bricks.... Old chimney's never did , and it is this that can set the chimney on fire. However, like wise the liner. So seaon dry wood and roberts your' mother's brother.

Very true I.B. When I first started up on my own, I took a few shillings and went to a few Y/B's sales. I met a fellow there for the first time. He spoke, and I answered. He asked my name and I told him. 'EH! he squawked down his nose 'if your anything like your dad you will be bloody useless too, strays and crap is all he ever...' and on it went. this all within 3 minutes into meeting this toe rag. Barry - who incidently was the Fed president and whom had he's first birds of my dad, a darn good flyer to boot, litterally grabbed my arms and moved me away. A few others quickly came to my side for they knew the distination I'd quickly had in store for him! This horrible crap sack, who was about 55 years old, needing sorting big time. I was deciding whether to just gently choke him till he went blue and quietly bash his face a few times on a table. Or just splatter the uncouth ignorant cretin! Barry and a few mates kept me well away from him. Seems he had only ever had won two races in 30 odd years eh! That he was in a club with 3 other dozso of like - mind drivel. Why? Well after he had upset a few in a club, he resigned AND tried to join others. Not one would have him. 4 or more years went by when he and the other three formed their' club. Did any club protest as they well could have? No, as Barry said, as long as we don't have to have him, or them near us, good riddance, let them get on with it. Now, solemnly speaking, just who wants cretins like that in a club? Answer no one!

I actually do put hession back carpet in my baskets. Pile downwards of course. It is, I find, the best covering there is. Sure put a little shavings / straw / litter paper whatever as you so wish. I have stacks of rems and have done so now for quite a few years. It is good!

You know, and no disrespect meant here. The first, and cloudview posts are exactly what I had in mind when I asked Dovecotes to put up a 'Good couriers' comments site, and just straight forward reason why you found it as such! Plain and simple.... Yes would like a Moder to transfer it personally as I like the idea, and feel many members would too, where one just clicks on one after the other regards comments, and able to make their own mind up. No need, nor warrented, bitching and posting back and forth, the Comments made as the person using the courier is end of. Simple, realistic, and bery helpful .... far better than some of those rewpetetious slanging matches of quite previous posts no so very long aga surely! Good post Gail J
