  1. Soothsayer eh! Jackson was flying a 1000 miles as yearlings. Many on here race youngster well stating that they want to test them for when old birds. Gosh Nigh aa youngsters went 250 miles at a few months, or less. Plus scored well as old birds.
  2. Obviously not a 'Buying Market' now. Seem well bought in too.
  3. Race old birds on Saturday YBS on Wednesday only up to 150 mile for YBS 👠Why? Sprinters eh! What's wrong with 250 miles? Another downward step that is, and has cost the sport very Dear. Very dear in deed.
  4. true, and depending on distance, one will see the t/b's home first!
  5. You know, but hardly any one will, that it would be a good idea, room pending to breed a few late ones April, say six. Then have a some August bred ones. Many birds - the way most are breeding and what from, will be lost off the top. Next year send a few of them a couple of hundred miles. First off change the pairings. even swap a few with others. Get birds with a bit of vigour and not a loss of Homing instincts you've knocked the crap out off! Make use for a change, or it will be those at the top last year ruling the roost again this year! You all know the logic of only racing birds THAT want to be in your hotel for Pigeons! This year many have a chance to do just that. To start letting Mr Basket sort OUT the wheat from the Chaff … But surely it would be far, far better if sorting OUT good birds than those just bred to lose! Do the same each year and as Delboy often says, as well as other. 'Do the same this year and you will get the same results. Why does one think it will be different?! Yeah I know, you might, just get one or two worthwhile!
  6. Joe, bang on. Too many breed huge amounts to combat their' losses. Time to look in the mirror? Yes breed to lose! But then with the commercial side spouting, and selling rubbish to the fancier, and because 'So and So' allegedly does... The rot will not get better, only deepen. The excuse of stupidity abound galore with the deep rooted desire to do the same... 'With a nod and a wink 'Next Year ' Simply what chance do our supposedly loved friends have eh!
  7. Too many bred to lose. In the late 50' and early sixty's there were just under 150.000 fanciers. fact, check of the R.P.R.A. Now there is barely 25.000! fact. Also the fact is that vastly more pigeons are sent today to the races. I am been around pigeons for over 67 years. When no training, or very seldom by the bulk of the grass roots. When youngsters were split into first rounders and second rounder. All expected to fly the whole programme. Up to 250 miles or more some time. Fact! First rounder 65 miles first race and a 100 second. Next two weeks the same for the second rounders. No rotation then either. Days before molly- coddling and all important distance races frown on … Mostly because those able wanted Money! Yes of course a bird was delivered by train to be picked up, 3/6p 17 pence. But it went the next race - and often done well. It flew its self into condition mOr maybe it didn't like to be away from the loft. Season's end meant sorting out what had to go. What youngster deserves a perch - sometimes granted a nest box. 24 birds was a norm, over that was a big to 'Mob Flyer'.
  8. Very good. indeed very clever. I enjoyed, thanks.
  9. I agree that many, idiots - wouldn't pay the fines, as they would claim benefits. To stop that at sauce could be very hard on the families having the money stopped. Realistically prison them … but that would cost us dear. Remember only 7% of criminals ever get to court! A warning many other let offs. Now if they were upsetting 'mop head Buffoon, or such, then the police would be rounding them up in no time. Depends I guess Walter it depends which costs less and effective eh! this is going to cause a big recession worldwide. no two ways about that. indeed it may very well be the start of the foretold times when money is of no value.
  10. Very true, and good post. then at least they would pay a little back to society. The government would welcome the funds going to the N.H.S. and would get a move on in this regards … the more, and heftier fines the more the government would, then the government would get a move on and implement it!
  11. Hopefully yes! Reminds me when the Iraq oil wells were set on fire... It was an old Hungarian machine used to quickly put them out!
  12. I self locked down a good mite even before it was advertised. had always had a good stock of food. Tins and freezers etc. Been out twice in over 4 weeks. Blood tests and to take money from the bank - the better half would gladly have gone... For the bank, but not the Blood test lol... But the heart strings forbade that! lol I carried a tea towel and a disinfectant spray with me. touched with a well wet towel and Spray anything I might touch. I think the time will come hen we all carry as such, and spray persons within 9 feet lol. Indeed the sensible one could all get well equipped and go and spray the idiots partying in parks eh! :emoticon-0136-giggle:
  13. Agreed .. but won't happen. Most will still be waiting for that 'Knight in shiny Armour. Or ' Well my few out make any difference... Mind I agree and will support those that do 100%, and if any one asks, I will tell them I agree.! lol :)
  14. Soon the B.O.P. will hve to be eating their own … all other birds will be too scarce ...
  15. I see idiots gathering in spite of sensible govt rulings. Not only putting them selves at or dying, but infecting many. Could they, can they be charge with Danger to life's, or Public health's etc. 3000 in Lambeth park yesterday enforcing the park to be closed! Picnics on the beaches. Think hefty fines or imprisonment is called for, and would be, I think, widely accepted by and large of the public. Indeed this is HAPPENING across the U.K.
  16. Yeah, go and visit that person you nigh loath and shake their hand saying 'Sorry mate!
  17. Whatever. Many lofts never vaccinate. Just sign each others card so to speak. Was a time when Nature took care of all and every thing. Birds immunity and constitution ample. Personally I have often thought Novice that it is a waste of time … Mind makes money for the makers eh1 Also no doubt a few names that recommend them. Like the vast majority of Ailment healers eh!
  18. Had a stray reported by a none fancier. Went 20 odd miles straight away. Got there and was told no worries to rush over. That it had settled in very well. It was on their living room table. I kid you not, and have photos to prove it … is ever able to post lol. They said #it came and strutted around the garden, onto the patio for a few hours'. They went out to the conservatory to enjoy the weather, but didn't see it. they just thought it had flew away. Going inside they saw it on the table eating their chocolate peanuts. They were amused and took to it .. tried to get them interested in starting up... to no avail though. But we did stay in touch a little.
  19. Now tell me you're not moved. Go on then, dry your eyes! Many more. if one like.
  20. Well in Canada and other places they are jab once or twice in the nest. Three times before six months old. Not via all granted, but ...
  21. Well worth a listen I believe:

You know, shops being short supply for veg! Across the fields, thistles are a boon. Every bit can be eaten to good effect - Even in pigeons water. (Mind I guess it's against the law for the Scots to eat this weed :emoticon-0136-giggle: LOL Stinging nettles are full of iron and much more. When cooked, the sting is no longer there. Etc. etc. as many other things. Sadly the coots, duck eggs etc. now being out of bounds. The Morehen's egg is with out doubt the best egg you can EVER eat .. can't to eat now. get. Have eaten when a lad any and every egg you care to mention. Etc. birds of preys of course. Yet across the fields, all seasons there is bounty to be had. Autumn of course is the main bringer of bounty of course. Think I will get Joyce to save up for some wellingtons and boots!

Yes, especially is sat on a unseen stinging nettle lol. I was starting think, in regards the good lady, going across the fields with a barrow... Maybe later - and have a little street corner as such selling 'Dock Leaves'. After the house work and other little chores were done. Must admit, I feel I am failing her in regards finding these and other, little chores to her to pass the time and help her not getting bored:emoticon-0136-giggle:
  24. Caught the good lady chucking out a couple of old news papers this morning. I shook my head in disbelief at her. 'What! What' she asks. I think she knew though. Yet being the kind person I am, I explained, yet again You must save them! They could be very handy wiping things down, beside useful if no toilet roll are available'! I know that the creases can certainly scratch the bum. But that only lasts for a few hours. I always would fold around the hand so no too creased though. Indeed you could cut them up into nice squares! Thoughtfully giving her something to do instead of idling time away. Looks a bit chilly out but sunny ... might stay in today again and laze about. :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:
  25. One the news last night I see now some roads are being closed because of cars air pollution affecting the purity needed for these machines giving oxygen / Venters. Makes sense actually I believe.
