I think not You need a degree in genetics just to put the colour of your birds in if you only race birds - you haven't a clue if they're 'recessive' this and that the chart below might not look like a chart - but I tried !! When To Medicate?
REDCHEQHEN replied to The White Rapido Man's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
I don't understand this statement You expose your birds to paratyphoid every time they are placed in the basket to race with other people's birds I can guarantee atleast one person in your club will have it in their birds And they probably won't even know it -
I have flown widowhood and natural, and roundabout and natural to the same loft (different sections) and although the naturals did well loft flying (45 minutes morning and evening) we had no trapping system as such (open door) and their trapping was not the greatest (we also had ETS) it was a small section only 4'6" wide We had our best results from the distance with the cocks on natural. With the hens - on roundabout But we have also scored with a couple of natural cocks in sprint races Hens on eggs etc - never seemed to work for us ! But all aspects of natural didn't seem to be worth the effort put in, from cleaning out, training, motivation, it was too much like hard work Last season and this has been roundabout only - having said that - our last two seasons have not been our best !

One thing nobody has mentioned - and is what I do - is I loft fly them first - so they would do an hour round the loft - trap to a small amount of seed - then basket straight away and take them training they usually come straight home then BUT there's always more than two of 'em ! I think that the fact you only have 2 birds to train is the main problem

I do, but only look at it in the summer to make sure its not too hot (I should be so lucky )

How Often Do You Treat Your Loft, Externally?
REDCHEQHEN replied to sapper756's topic in Lofts, Fixtures & Fittings
They kept eating the lawn seed - it took several attempts to get it to take so it's 10% lawn seed in the mix next year -

yacht Use Sadolin on ours - the other half spilt a full (just opened) tin on the lawn this summer - it killed the lawn -
Do you have to take your own plough It is my clubs presentation evening tonight - I will be deciding what to wear all day - then getting ready and getting changed several times

In the words of Tom Jones 'It's not unusual' Especially when there is only the two of them, happened to me, more than once with 2 late breds, I gave up training them when they were taking a day or two to come home from a few miles, so I didn't bother again after the first 2 training tosses - until the following spring, and trained them with the old birds to get them into the habit of coming straight home
